I respect his opinion and he has a good point that to date there haven't been many....however the modern state of the NFL TE says that a 6'7ish athlete can cut and change direction quite well if they train specifically to do it.

I do think his point is very valid for top 6 type players....there may be some future state for bottom six players but the reality is the draw to basketball and football for very tall men heavily outweighs the draw to hockey.

I can’t find actual numbers of guys that choose hockey and can’t speak to the bias that might be there during the development of tall players. However, my point is that this group is such a very minuscule sample that I don’t think you can draw sweeping conclusions that 6’7” players should not be forwards.

Maybe we will see a Ghost and Gus swap soon.

I prefer Gus actually show defensive awareness and improves his game, that Ghost displaces Braun or Hagg because Friedman is playing so well he can't come out.

Though size wise that group is scary

Agree....that is sort of what I meant. Tall kids may opt to try basketball or football over hockey so athletes capable of making it self-select out. Additionally, taller kids take time to grow into their body and coordination and if entering hockey early....they may be "pushed" to defense because based on their adaptation at that time they are better served being on D if they want to play with the larger group of players their age. That leaves predominately the very stubborn ones that want to be forward and that cant be a huge success rate.

Dislocated shoulder. They will know more timetable wise soon. Depends on the extent of damage and whether surgery is necessary.

Asinine comment.

1) Hasn't made "years" of slow progress. Has gotten significantly better, year by year, since he was drafted.

2) His junior progression was almost exactly like Giroux's.

3) AHL All-Star as a rookie last year, scored (plus a nifty assist) in his first two NHL games.

4) At camp this month and into the first two games he played, noticeably look stronger and he showed improvement across the boards on the areas that gave him trouble as a rookie at times last year.

Im not worried about Gus. Let's be real here, this season is going to be hardest on him. He is coming to a new team and has to learn a new defensive system without any preseason games and with less practices.

Gus will stabalize, he just needs time to adjust.

Whats going on with Ghost though. Isnt the COVID Protocol to get tested and isolate until he gets the results? Unless he tested Positive he should have returned by now no?

Possible. I think I saw they need 5 days of negative results.

For asymptomatic players that have an initial positive test the following procedure will be followed.

Following the initial positive, the player will be isolated and contact tracing will begin.
A confirmatory test will be conducted 24 hours later. If that test is negative, a second test will be conducted 24 hours after that. If that second test is negative, a third confirmatory test will be conducted 24 hours after that. If any of those tests come back positive the player will remain isolated and contact tracing will continue.
If all three confirmatory tests come back negative the player will be allowed to exit isolation, resume training, while the contacts will also be released from isolation.

From reading this, he must have had symptoms and went under that protocol

Here...

Per tweet from Charlie O’Connor...
“AV says Shayne Gostisbehere skated yesterday. He's skating on his own in Philly, and next practice in Philly he expects him back with the big group. Still on COVID list for now.“

I agree with Giroux at center, I would rather him there than Bunnaman. Giroux is not as effective at wing as he is at center. Time to test that organization depth theory we have been hearing so much about.
- jd250

Giroux is CLEARLY more effective at wing than center. That isn't even debatable.

I’m not sure how others are measuring effectiveness or at what depth.

Are we comparing Giroux the 1st line winger to other 1st line wingers?

And

Giroux as a 3rd line center to other 3rd line centers?

Then...at which position does he rank higher?

I just follow what my eyes tell me, and what both the on ice stats and advanced stats tell me. Its pretty clear.
