Pretty nice when of the top players in the league says he’s glad he won’t be playing agaisnt you this year. I’m sure after those two games McDavid has similar feelings
- Fredo

yup, and what's nice is that he wasn't asked specifically on Danault, he brought up his name when asked who he hates playing against, across the league.

There’s still travel, staying at hotels, time zones. I know the crowd is no longer a factor but I think there’s still an advantage to playing at home
- Fredo

and for line changes too, yeah I guess it's still a factor to consider

And they don’t have the same agents so it can’t be his agent asking to prop Danault up for contract negotiations

We’ll see, last year they were the worst pp team at home. Maybe whitout the crowd getting impatient they will have less pressure

very different team and vibe though, I think they would play well in front of a crazy crowd at the Bell

no I don't think so, but I did hear that MacKinnon interview talking about Danault... MB needs to find a way to keep him, he's way more useful to this team than many are claiming.
- Pat1993

As somebody who has always been in the keep Danault camp the cap and his "believed" desire to be paid as a top line C make it complicated. Assuming the cap stays flat as has been suggested, the Habs have about $15.5 M in space to sign 5 guys minimum and ideally 7 to 8.

Danault, Tatar, Armia are UFA, Lehkonen, Kotkaniemi, Mete, Fleury, Poehling RFA and the taxi squad vets are all UFAs too. Somebody will go to Seattle.

Now if you can move Byron (which people think is easy but I don't) you can save $3.4m against the cap. I think moving Byron is the key to keeping both Tatar and Danault but after last off season it's hard to predict contract values and all that.

If you can only keep one of Tatar and Danault it's Phil all day for me. Like I said it's complicated, especially knowing Suzuki and Romanov will need to be paid after next year

You also have Allen’s salary that should get free’d when he gets drafted by Seattle

I mentioned somebody has to go to Seattle but I'm not certain it's Allen. Could be Edmundson. Could be Kulak. Ideally it's Byron in a deal if need be. But yes somebody ends up in Seattle I'm just not willing to say for certain it's Allen

agreed, and the salary/term he's looking for are a big question mark, unfortunately for him (or fortunately for MB) the current situation will be forcing players to take less money, because of the obvious revenue issues

this would suck since they would be back to square 1 in their quest for a decent backup goalie

If Toffoli ends up as an accurate comp for Tatar I'd be happy to go 4 years at $4.25M pretty damn quick

Wouldn't the previous 3 eyed Raven made more sense to meme with Bernie Sanders?

despite the loss Toffoli must be pretty happy about his performance against his former team (well, he played 17 games with them but whatever)... still sucks they didn't get the 2 points, very entertaining yet frustrating game to watch with all those god damn penalties

Habs take dumb penalties, otherwise look good. But 4 games in they take a lot of dumb penalties. No ref blaming, they take dumb penalties. It was a fun game though

At least it’s not to many men on the ice penalties anymore.

Probably the one penalty that pisses me off more than delay of game, you're right on the money there
