Nice win and an absolutely dominating second period. A lot easier when you don't have a certain massive hole on our D.
Lots of positives . Connor- Scheif - Wheeler definitely belong together. I've always like that threesome as a line. Heinola and Stanley were solid. Pionk maybe not so much. Kyle Connor up with the scoring leaders with 7 points in 4 games.
The game was not without some flaws. The most obvious one is the PP doesn't seem to be working. It begs the question when the Jets are up 4-0 and 4-1 as to why not let Heinola have a go at it.
Does anyone know if the 20 game mark is still valid for Roslovic to sign before he is dead for the season to all teams? Maybe it was shortened pro-rata with the season? I'd still like to see Roslovic supplement that third line instead of Appleton, or even the second line while Laine is recovering. |

Don't know the exact date but Roslovic has to sign by sometime in early February or he isn't playing in the NHL this season.
I would like to see him in the lineup too, preferably centering the 2015 line again. |

I agree, there was better puck movement and less predictability compared with what was going on last season. Don’t get me wrong, you still want Laine there to shoot the puck but the PP needed a facelift. In the end the Jets will be a better team because of the adjustments made. |

I also may have to eat my words on Connor this year.
He looks different. He’s got a calm and awareness on the ice that he didn’t use to have. He’s making plays in tight space easier and more confidently than he used to, he’s not lazily drifting in the vicinity of his man in the d-zone anymore, and he’s actually attacking the blueline.
More please |

I agree the puck seems to be moving around a bit better however the top echelon of the league is in the 30-45% range on PP percentage and the Jets are at 10% near the cellar. They have also had a lot of PP 's in the first 4 games so its a decent sample size. Bottom line is I'm not worried quite yet but at the same time the goals better stat coming soon on the PP or the lack of PP production could start being the difference in future games.
BTW...just imagine if the PP were at 40% + like the Avalanche. Kyle Connor, Wheeler , and Scheif would all be 10 pts plus right now.

You bet. His contract is going look like a steal of a deal in the future years to come. I think he is even faster this year as well and notice when he is carrying the puck inside the O zone he doing less dipsy doodle and is instead protecting the puck with his body and using his speed to create space.
Connor is awesome. |

Too bad Perreault's contract is what it is and he gets played. His contract now is just a complete waste of money. It would be better if Vesalainen or even Roslovic could take his place.
Perreault is just taking up space and money. By his standard, he should get injured soon that will hopefully let Ves play. |

Connor has been awesome for a couple of years now and is only going to get better. I believe when Kyle re-signed that Maurice said he was one of top 10 wingers in league. I would agree, gets more limelight and appreciation with Patrik out.
Wonder how the PLD situation in Columbus might affect the Jets. H-m-m-m?
Once again Stanley proved his worth. Not sure if they are going to get him out of the line-up now. He brings the grit that was sorely missing.
Not worried about the power play - it will come around, and they did have some chances last night. Would liked to have seen them try Heinola on the PP late in the game. Give him a shot.

With Laine out, Scheifele needs to be the “shooter” on the PP. Just my opinion.
Bye bye Sami ! Hello Ville ! |

Agreed that its not time to worry yet about pp. Avs won’t go all year at 45%, it will likely fall to 25%ish. Jets will improve, 20% is a fair mark to expect.

The deadline for Roslovic to sign is February 11th. I suspect he's kicking himself for listening to his agent trying to force a trade. |

I think he took excellent advice, especially with how Torts has been playing Pierre Luc Dubois, it looks like the Jets and Blue Jackets could make for excellent trading partners. This is the year the Jets should be all-in. The Canadian division is weak and this team should roll over everyone and that is with poopty coaching (imagine if we had a real coach, it would not even be a competition). We should actually be preparing for what might come in the semi-finals and Stanley Cup finals.

That’s it, when things open up tomorrow, I am buying a #64 jersey.
Also grahamzky, notice how much better the Jets play when Scheifele’s ice time is lower? I would still like to see him at 20:00 minutes max. Just saying! |

I don't think the Jets are willing to give up enough to get PLD. A player everyone wants, you won't get for nothing. Laine has a little more value than PLD but the asking price was a top 6 center with term and a defenseman with term.
Roslovic hasn't proven himself as a top 6 yet although I think he's a solid middle 6. Even if Columbus was interested in Roslovic, I imagine they would want one of our top prospects like Heinola or Samburg thrown in with Roslovic. Considering how Chevy does not have a history of trading the prospects he drafts and with a flat cap that inflates the value of entry level contracts, I have my doubts the Jets will give up what it takes to get PLD. That's even with Torts making the situation so unbearable the GM has no choice but to look for a way out. |

Star offensive players play less minutes when they are leading comfortably in the game. It's just a fact of life, or hockey! |

Bravo Ultimate! I like the positive thinking here although I'm not sure a disgruntled PLD will be so happy getting dealt to the Peg and may just perform here as he is in Columbus where he ended up getting benched for the final two periods. He acting somewhat like a spoiled brat who only wants to play for a Quebec team aka MTL.
Regarding the other spoiled brat, Jack Roslovic. I would love to see him put his tail between his legs and resign his RFA contract for a year or two. He is a good player and would definitely add some scoring punch to that third line as well as be a great fill-in for the second line. By holding out, Roslovic is quickly losing the role he would have had to Andrew Copp. Dumb agent ...dumb idea...and really bad timing to play this out during a budget-conscious NHL under covid.

After the two-period benching of PLD by Torts he actually did his team a disservice. The trade value of PLD just went down. The relationship after that benching is now toxic. PLD is done in Columbus and willnow be dealt in likely before month end.
