Like you say, small sample. However so far he has passed with flying colors. Finally found someone to stand up to the Tkachuks of the world.
I know it's out of necessity, but wonder if the Jets are showcasing Stanley and Niku to include in a major deal? Actually hope they keep Stanley, but as you say, let's see bigger minutes, maybe against a more dynamic team. Make a better judgment. - grahamzky
This would be a catastrophic idea. In my books, Stanley is an untouchable. |

Murray Ates of the Athletic wasn't too hot on Stanley just yet in an article today. Basically said he did OK but in a very sheltered role and barely plays any time in the third. Also said not enough sample size and spotted some mistakes he made. He really didn't like Niku's play at all.
Just saying that your way too early to make any real long-term call on Stanley just yet. |

Stanley does not need to worry too much about skating, especially someone his size. He plays an excellent positional game. Also not too sure how many of you guys pay attention to conditioning and weight. Stanley was listed at 267 lbs. last year, this year he is 237 lbs. And, from my understanding he trained with the fitness freak, Mark Scheifele himself all off-season.
I also find it interesting that folks are saying Samberg is better than Stanley despite him never playing a NHL game. - TheUltimateJet
Did you need to see NHL games to know that Connor McDavid was better than Dylan Strome back in 2015? |

He’s been an okayish #6 defenceman in heavily sheltered minutes and is approaching his prime.
He also had a nice 0%xGF rating last game. |

I see Morrissey is going to be paired with Heinola as the right D now. Can't wait to see if that works out (or doesn't) tonight. |

Actually I'm leaning that way right now too with Stanley, note I said I hope they keep him. Not so much - Niku! |

What's wrong with rum and Coca-Cola??? Got a problem with that?
But both good "friends" to watch the game with.

Now if we just had Vessy in and Perreault watching with Patrik! I don't think we would have to worry about social distancing in this case. |

I am surprised that such a positive person like yourself, listens to negative commentary by Murat!

If Jets don't come out flying and totally dominate the Sens tonight, something needs to be done about the coaching! |

Truthfully, it's scotch or bourbon on the rocks for me. Learned to stay away from the mix. I don't like hangovers, my head hurts, and I feel like agreeing with everything Rexy says....and then there is the mandatory trip to the Sals for a grease feed.

What about the players, no obligations? These guys aren't in Junior anymore where they need a fiery coach to get then going. Or at least they shouldn't have to be fired up. They're pros! |

Nice one Benny. Maybe they will start playing Lola on the Jets organ/music whenever Heinola scores once Covid is over. This also begs the question why not play something in between whistles to make it more like a real game. Pipe in some Go-Jets-Go crowd noise for the home games, etc. BTW....I personally hate when the synthetic crowd noise sometimes gets the timing off....sounds ridiculous. |

Players play systems that coaches instruct them to play.

Maurice stating the obvious about Niku....
“I liked Logan’s game better,” Maurice said. “Sami has a certain skill-set that he needs to employ. I don’t think it’s been there for him. I like where Logan’s at. What he brings, we can use. I just didn’t love Sami’s game. There’s technical parts to that and there’s mistakes.
“I still have lots of faith in the young man but he’s a puckmover and so is Ville… but if you’re not at the top part of your game, we don’t have a lot of time to wait. So we’ve got to get going.”
The bottom line is the Heinola is about to make Niku very expendable.

Tonight I'll be going with a nice bourbon with a splash of Drambuie and an even smaller splash of Gran Marnier with one cube of ice.

- TheUltimateJet
You said it’s odd to assume Samberg is better than Stanley because he hasn’t played any NHL games.
I provided an example of how that doesn’t matter.
Also, yes. I would feel somewhat comfortable comparing Heinola to McDavid in the capacity that Heinola will almost certainly end up as an elite dman |

This is such a cop out. Maurice is fired 3 times now if he’s coaching in Tampa or Pittsburgh.
If the systems are broken and don’t work, the players really don’t have a lot to do about it other than go rogue and risk benching, or sandbag the coach |

This is a weak division and the Jets should be destroying it!
No excuses. I picked this team to finish first in it for a reason.

Stanley won me over in this game. He was solid during actual play, and his role in the pileup made me smile.
Keep it up, big man. |
