Due to all the frustration that’s surrounded our team over the past three years, it’s easy to forget that the Caps are just as old and incomplete as we are. They just play with way more of an identity. This Penguins team is as vanilla as they come. - Victoro311
Hell of a comeback win. I never thought I'd say that after the first period. The Pens aren't old any longer. Sid, Geno and Letang are old.
Caps are definitely gonna show their age by the end of the season. |

Sid with the winner.
Nice comeback after looking like they were out of it. |

Yeah to me it looks like this year’s pens want to fight and win, but they’re just not sure how. They don’t have last year’s quit in them, but they don’t have a cohesive identity either. I think a coaching change is sorely needed. Some of the bit players we picked up are looking way better than I expected and I really think we could have a team here if a coach could come in and organize them and get the top 6 going. |

The turnover has been dramatic. That's why I'm not completely worried. Teams take time to gel. I think Sully has reached his "sell by" date too, although I'm not as concerned as I was last year. At least he's trying different things. Why Tanev never got a bigger role last year is a total mystery to me. |

That fourth line was really (frank)ing good at their role last year. It was like the one functional part of the team, and like it or not Tanev really is a bottom pairing guy. I think I would have like to see him get more energy shifts with Sid or Geno to shake things up but I really don’t think Tanev permanent top 6 forward would have worked. I think the utility of Tanev in that poop down line was much higher than Tanev with Crosby/Malkin, and certainly higher than Tanev with the dysfunctional Frankenstein 3rd line. |

I think the big benefit would just be his energy. And a real battler retrieving pucks. But spot duty is prob best. |

That's what I'm saying....spot duty. Not full time. Win races, get pucks and open up a little space. 3 or 4 shifts a game.

Riikola being evaluated for an injury |
|
|

Ryan, you should fact check this one. I can assure you Roslovic’s most common linemates were not Ehlers and Wheeler. Wheeler, Connor, Scheifele was the top line majority of the season. Ehlers and Laine played with different centres, Roslovic was one of them at a point but he was a short lived experiment at the time. |
