Coach Sullivan on Kapanen: "It's not an easy thing when you've been in quarantine and you've been skating by yourself back home in Finland, but not really being in a team environment for a long time. He's only had two practices, one with the taxi squad and one team practice

That's a tough challenge for a player. We didn't want him to put him in a difficult circumstance, so that's why we started him on the 4th line. He got a few shifts with Sid's line and he had the odd shift with Geno's line, but we tried to manage his minutes

We're going to have to find creative ways to get him up to speed. This was one way that we talked about that we think can expedite the process. I thought he played pretty well tonight. You could see his explosive skating ability. He ends up helping out on one of our goals."

From pens twitter. Still agree with you though. Kap showed enough to start with sid

He's up to f'n speed. They all have rust, not just the Pens, its league wide.

EDIT: its not like we're half way into the season here...or even a 1/4 way. Four f'n games. Put the kid in the top 6.

We'll depends on how much Rust will want, he's a UFA this off-season correct?
And (frank) you on Rod lol

Nah. After next season. We’ve got him locked up for this and next.

There was a lot to like about Kaps game last night. He was definitely the most notable. I liked his play with the puck around the net. He didn’t force it on net and tried to wait for things to open up.

Cool, thanks on that was too lazy to check capfriendly lol. I'd still grab Roslovic if it's a good price.

LOL such an easy thing to check too.

Still hold Roslovic is likely better at wing. Price just has to be right. Affordable pick up and I'm in. Cost a lot, no thanks.

- Tojo.

Yea I agree with you. But I'd give up Legare plus a little somet for him. That would give us 2 fill in centers with McCann and Roslovic.

I'm just saying what everyone else is thinking.

IIRC, Rodrigues wanted out of Buffalo. I can't remember why. My concern here is if he gets demoted, how will he take it.

Kap has shown more in 10 minutes than ERod has in 70. I'm so sick of this stupid BS already. ERod has one lucky goal off his skate, 0 assists, 10 SOG in 4 games playing next to Crosby and Guentzel. Oh, and is a -3. Pretty sure he leads the team in TOI.

ERod is a marginal NHL player. Has never cracked double digit goals. Has never cracked 30 points. Is not particularly fast or physical. He is 27 and makes league minimum - no one else wanted him, not even Buffalo.

It's every (frank)ing year the same thing with Sully. Stop sabotaging Crosby!

I agree, I was wondering if he was benched, set to the press box, or simply just lost playing time, or responsibilities. He seems to have a good attitude now.

Maybe trade ERod for Roslovic.

I actually think he is fast and pretty good on the boards. Crosby's production has been all PP ( or 3 on 3) I believe. Jake wasn't looking too good until last night, either. Still though, Kap should be there over him.

Yeah he came out on the ice like a little spark plug. He was fastest player on the ice for either team last night. He's got a pretty quick release too.

I get keeping Kap's minutes down this game. He was quarantining while they were in camp and only had 1 practice, so I doubt he has that same noticable burst if he had top line minutes. But he should be up their next game, and probably should have gotten more in the 3rd.

ERod was getting scratched and thought he shouldn't have been. I was surprised he came back here but I guess he saw the opportunity.

So I doubt he plays good soldier. I also don't care though.

Like Boyd said, Rust has 1 more year after this.

No way I bring him back after that. This team isn't trending in a direction to sign 30 year old wings to expensive contracts.

If this season is a disappointment again, might want to think about moving him next off-season anyways though.

The thing that really sucks is if you look at next years pending UFAs... there are like 4 under 30. Hall, Granlund, Wennberg, and Dzingel would be like the top 4 lol and they’re mostly like 29 going on 30 lol.

Teams have done such a good job at locking up talent through their prime that it’s going to be tough to acquire top 6 talent unless it’s via trade or an offer sheet or something.

Thanks. Maybe Winnepeg already said no to Rodrigues, but that is my offer, straight up.
