So with all the games being like 4 pointers, the Canucks have no hope in making up ground rest of the season?

The assumption that those teams with good starts in the North won't have losing slides in the season is also questionable.

Hope Rathbone has a good game tomorrow. Take advantage of the opportunity and shut up Canucks Twitter. They need to win 2 games against the Habs this week.

Montreal's better than most think, it's gonna be tough to beat them if they don't play well.

Did you know, I was just looking, the storied franchise of the Montreal Canadiens only has three 1000 point players? I found that shocking, as they've been so dominant throughout their history. Guy Lafleur, Jean Beliveau & Henri Richard by the way.

Further to that, of the original six teams there's not actually a plentiful number of 1000 point players for each franchise, the Leafs actually don't have any

It's damn hard to get to 1000 points with one franchise...so I'm finding out.

Detroit - 4
Chicago - 4
Montreal - 3
Boston - 2
NYR - 1
Toronto - 0

A very good player like Ryan Getzlaf, has 16 nhl seasons all with the Ducks, is still not at 1000 points.

Is that confirmed? They want to boost PP2, when PP1 and PK is in shambles?

I bet you he gets < 0:01 seconds of PP time in his first NHL game.

Okay. Rathbone is an interesting prospect with his shot and puck play. Has the tools to be a good PP2 QB in the future.

Right now they may want to use OJ more to help fix the PK as Hamonic has struggled.

Even i understood what he said, puck pressure and more physicality are needed.

Which leaves Sven Baertschi as the only remaining player without an apparent non-NHL assignment at the moment, but he must officially be somewhere that's *not* Utica, Manitoba or the Taxi Squad.

Maybe he’s the top 6 winger the team has been missing the first four games?

Thanks for answering the dipsh!t from Calgary’s question about where Baertschi is. I had no idea.

I think the goaltending has been fine.
More concerned with the lack of scoring and forecheck/offensive zone entries myself.
Need to get back to basics and get some greasy goals.

It is more about providing a sense of stability. The players need to relax and play their game, I think a vet like Holtby can help settle things down. Goalie out.

Read that canucks PP ranks 8th in PP shots per 60 minutes and 4th in expected goals, suggesting that they've been snakebit so far.

It hasn't looked great at times either but I think people forget, that's how the PP often looked last year but were also converting on chances.

They lived and died by the PP last year and will again this year. Too early to panic. A few less crossbars or blocked shots or bobbled passes and we're talking about how exciting it is to watch 5-4 games, win or lose.

I get the contract hate, and trade regret about Baer... but ya, is he not an NHL caliber player at all? He was over a PPG last year in Utica. I'm sure with their offensive woes to start the season he'd be fine on a line with Gaudette? Especially as he's become more of a passer, which the team lacks.

If the team is going to be soft anyway, I’m all in. I’d also bring Lui back to try and help them stop bleeding goals...
