If that is the defensemen, maybe the forwards will help out a little more in the defensive zone, which would be a good thing.

Is it worse than last night with Edler gone? Hamonic was playing pretty poopty.
- Retinalz

I'm hoping Edler is done for the year so we can move on.

Via his 1st of 2 assists for the Canucks last night, Quinn Hughes reached the 60 career point mark. Over the last 35 seasons (since 1985-86), just 4 defencemen have done it in fewer games than Hughes' 78: Brian Leetch (61), Vladimir Malakhov (69), Gary Suter (75), Sergei Zubov (75)

Future Norris Trophy winner!!

Yep. Called it before his first game as a Canuck.

Hamonic has looked rough, not sure about pairing him with QH. Seems to need to be sheltered a bit more.

Myers is an adventure. I wonder if pairing him with Edler (when he's back) would be a better bet.

Schmitt hasn't looked great, either, to be honest. Giving him and Hamonic some slack as it's early and they're adjusting.

Chatfield looked decent, he's faster than I would have thought. Guess we'll see how he holds up tonight!

- NewYorkNuck

Hamonic has looked shaky. Myers will pick it up with more TOI not worried there.

Schmidt just needs time to adjust to the new coach, systems, etc. He'll be fine.

If Edler and Hamonic are both out look for Hughes and Schmidt's ice time to be over 25 min lol.Chatfield did look comfortable.

lol it's up to Green to kick his guys in the ass and make them defensively responsible. I think Green is disgruntled that he has no contract.

The guy is gigantic, everything he does is glaring. I don't think he's been as brutal as some. He's shown some progress this year, so far.

Hamonic hasn't played in a year and is in a new system, so I'm with Yorkie, I'll cut him and Schmidt some slack 5 games in. They are still adjusting.

Overall, the entire team is sucking at D coverage. It's pretty blatant.

- Load Management

Clearly. As others have suggested, fix that and everything else should come together as a result. A new coach would help.

Benn wasn't that bad on the PK last season.

Wonder why OJ hasn't got a shot considering that's pretty much all they talked about when referring to his game in Utica.

Tyler Toffoli is the first ex-#Canucks player in history to record a Hat Trick in his first game back against his former team.

Was Marky the first ex goalie to get a shut out his first game back against his former team as well?

To be fair, he didn't play through the shortened season a few months back so he's been out of the game for over a year. He'll be better(ish) but he doesn't replace what Tanev gave you. If its any consolation, you didn't overspend on TJ Brodie...
- geta02it

Realistically I prefer what Schmidt brings over Tanev. I mostly think Hamonic is played way too much at 5v5. Quinn should be partnered with either Myers or Schmidt at 5v5 primarily. Hamonic should be a 10 min guy, only getting more due to PK.
