Two thoughts
1. The Sabres 4th line is a lot better than their 3rd
2. Gus is not good with the puck. He’s a turnover machine. Can’t remember the last D man to turn the puck over that frequently... maybe Ghost in one of his lull’s

- Boyer83

He is just careless with the puck, like he’s out on the pond or something. Play with some damn Jam as Lavy would say.

I really hope AV doesn’t baby Frost again, he was doing that quite a bit last night. Let the kid play, he was one of the few that seemed to have some jump last night.

Oh please there was no wind up. Comments like these are from someone who has either never played a contact sport or wants to eliminate hitting all together. It was stupid. But absolutely no reason for a suspension. The fine was just right.

You know what? I was so discussed with last night, I just had my nose buried into my phone the entire third period. I remember them killing a four minute penalty but didn’t even bother to find out why. If the penalty was even remotely as questionable as the Pettersson fined, this game is in a lot of trouble. It was a slash that went too high but what do you expect? It’s a (frank)in sport that includes sticks and testosterone filled men. You can’t fined these players because they did something that looks like it should only be a major penalty. It’s such a Wiener look on the nhl.

No disrespect but your nitpicking.

Hey, I love Giroux, he’s been one of the best Flyers over the last decade, bar none. I’m just of the opinion his skating held him back from being a consistently elite player year after year, even though he’s had a couple elite years. As I was so kindly corrected

He’s still a good player but he’s not gonna carry the team by himself, nor does he have to, this is a good hockey team.

Must win game tonight. Biggest of the season. Season in peril.

Must score more than the Sabres.

Dahlin stood nak up at the blue line. Nak decided to go through him instead of around him. Honestly looked like he was trying to shove him in the chest but his hand got his face. There was no clear "punching motion." Fist hit him in the face though and he was bleeding. Refs thought it was a stick not a fist so gave him 4 minutes high sticking. League called it excessive roughing as explanation for the fine. Like I said. It was fine and done with. No disagreement on the discipline. If Sabres want to go after nak so be it let them take the dumb penalties and let us get on track.

No question. There's a big difference between careless and haphazard and the normal turnovers that happen in the course of play with a puck moving defenseman. It seems as though he is not in sync with his teammates. I'm still going to give him time.

Giroux is no longer a player who can carry a team. However he can play better. The teams top players need to be better. However you can beat the drum on his skating all you want. Anyone watching him play the past 3 games can easily see that his skating and quickness is not an issue.

What does wearing the "C" have to do with anything? Only the best offensive players get to wear the "C" now? He's been the teams best player for years and was first or second in team scoring 9 of the past 10 years, he's kept up his end of the bargain. He's not responsible for putting the team together, the GM is.

He's getting older, his play will decline, get over it. It's time for the younger guys to take over and be what he's been for the past decade.

Is it me, or does anyone else notice Jake appears to have no chemistry with any linemates he’s paired with?

Ok, so tell me who you believe he’s played well with up to this point. To me he doesn’t look like he’s clicking with anyone.

Perhaps you should clarify. Are you talking this season or in his Flyers career?

Ok, that’s just hockey. It’s all apart of the game. This is like when Marty McSorley got a stick up on Donald Brashear in Vancouver and police almost got involved. That’s when the league should step in and outsiders stay out. In this case, the play should stay in the game.

He had strong chemistry from last season w/ G, Coots, Oskar, and Farabee. He had some success w/ Hayes too.

Bill and others --
Do you have any take on our standard defensive stance?
I've watched a million Flyers games over the years, but don't pretend to be an expert on things. So I'm curious. I noticed last year and again this year, it just LOOKS to me like our defensemen (like, all of them?) are fairly lackadaisical in getting back for dumped pucks. They have good position on keeping the forwards behind them, sure, but those forwards catch up to the point where they are right behind our defensemen when they get to the puck. With that kind of pressure, the defenseman often taps it to the other defenseman, also under tremendous pressure from the forecheckers, and they get trapped around Carter Hart. (Then they try to get it to a forward, who is usually predictabley along a wall, and so prone to getting picked off.) Is it just my hometown "fan" eyes that makes it seem like we don't seem in any rush to get to the dumped pucks in our own zone (unless it's to ensure an icing --then we hustle!) compared with other teams, or is it something the rest of you see? Sure seems like it's been this way for years.
