I've liked Holl early on.

Moves the puck well, is strong along the boards and can skate well.

2M for a 4/5? Great. Seattle please take Dermott instead.

I think there's truth to that. They say the big guys on the team help other guys play bigger. If you're a big guy like Holl or Matthews or Hyman (or Engvall should he be recalled), it can only help round out their game.

That and just the effect on the mindset of the opposition.

I was mentioning the other day when someone brought up how sandin or liljegren should be in over Bogo that guys like that don’t intimidate... for instance an opposition forward isn’t going to hesitate when it comes to trying to squeeze by Sandin or Liljegren along the boards but they’ll think twice before trying it on someone like Bogo... and that one second of hesitation is sometimes enough for the back checking forwards to get back and help disrupt the play. Little things like that, which you won’t find on a stat sheet, make bigger differences than most think

The Leafs really looked very good against the Jets. I think the way all the Canadian teams play there will be a lot of them having problems with how their opponents react to goals or that they are winning and will take offense to almost anything. With only 56 games this season it will be like playoff hockey only involving 6 other teams. We will see a lot of questionable plays even by players we would never expect it from.

Say what you want about the guy but he’s in his 15th season and has a cup under his belt.

The guy is a solid shutdown d man who was drafted way too high and spent the majority of his career playing on horrid teams.

He’s never going to have appealing numbers but he’s not there to play pretty... kind of like a bassist’s role so I may be a little biased

Are we talking about Luke Schenn? Braden Coburn?

I do find myself quite disappointed when I do not see this ad on every page. I have grown to admire Wordsa, whatever that is.

Vegas and Arizona play each other 4 times this week. Teams are gonna get real sick of each other this year

I love it, better for the entertainment value

Frankly I hope they continue with this type of season series type thing. Travel and back-to-backs becomes less of a factor in the grand scheme of things.

You missed the third type:
Opportunist, who devours half lasagna’s that have been discarded.

So you are saying racoons post here on Hockeybuzz?

I'm excited for how much Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal are gonna hate each other. The old rivalries are going to be reignited big time. Comes at a time where all 3 of those teams are looking pretty good too. No tank jobs

There are two types of posters here on the Leafs threads:

Optimists, who can see half a lasagna eaten; and

Pessimist, who can only focus on the half a lasagna thrown away.

Ask yourself who you want to be, Aethsie.

Well, it depends on who made the lasagna. My optimistic side believes RJ made the lasagna. My pessimistic side thinks Max made the lasagna.

You guys are getting Kyle Connor?

We’ll take him too. He was a stud in my goals only pool last year.

Pretty simple, NHL players hit that shot 99% of the time. Have some respect and dont fly in for the hit.
- Santo_44

Yup.

Reminds me of the Alabama - Notre Dame game.

56 seconds left, Notre Dame down by 17 points.

Alabama going on to play in the National Championship.

Notre Dame decides to do an on-side kick.

Completely classless.

Throw your stick out to try and deflect it, sure.

But I think hockey players have enough respect to not fly into a hit that the player is going to make regardless.

I'm wildly guessing here, but it looked like Marner thought Pionk was trying to take a freebie cheap shot, so he retaliated.

And Pionk thought that Marner's last second move was a dirty one - trying to take out his knee or slew-foot him.

It was just really weird - both sides seemed to think that the other side did the d-bag move.

Scheifele seemed really pissed.

- Atomic Wedgie

That's literally what Pionk did. Only dirty play there was by Pionk.

Shifilieleiele was pissed because Marner "showboated" in Pionk's stupid ass face. He completely ignored his own teammates wienerheadedness because of it.

EDIT: D!ck gets changed to wiener on here?

Makes sense, I guess William Nylander has a type.
