All you do is female dog, we have the 3rd best record since Keefe took over but all I see is tears every day. Enjoy them without bashing people for a day or 2, FML. Who cares, Shanny let him have a couple drafts and went with Dubas. I don’t get the constant need to say the same things over and over. Lots of teams including Dubas miss good picks, obviously it’s not super easy.

I understand standing up for your teammates, but there's absolutely no defense for Pionk being a sack of poop like that.

He didn't even attempt to play the puck and stop Marner from scoring. Complete female dog move.

- GreatGigInTheSky

I'm wildly guessing here, but it looked like Marner thought Pionk was trying to take a freebie cheap shot, so he retaliated.

And Pionk thought that Marner's last second move was a dirty one - trying to take out his knee or slew-foot him.

It was just really weird - both sides seemed to think that the other side did the d-bag move.

Scheifele seemed really pissed.

Pionk was losing and upset and tried to finish his check, Marner didn’t likey. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It was obvious that Marner was going to score. Why Pinoink would go at him, beyond me. Game was over even if the goal did not go in.

A little bit early to be writing off any team.

I see 6 teams finishing very, very closely to each other.

Let's not get too cocky just yet.

There are two types of posters here on the Leafs threads:

Optimists, who can see half a lasagna eaten; and

Pessimist, who can only focus on the half a lasagna thrown away.

Ask yourself who you want to be, Aethsie.

Exactly.

Look at someone like Holl, maybe it’s just me but he seems to have a little more pushback this year... and for someone who is 210lbs and 6’-4” that can make a huge difference

For instance:

Hits per game last season: 1.3
Hits per game this season: 2

Doesn't that depend on whether the lasagna belonged to Marner or Matthews?

My guess is that it's an intentional adjustment.

Last year we heard teams talk about having to be aware of Muzzin, but really no one else on the Leafs (until Clifford arrived near the deadline). That would basically mean that left-side zone entry was the side of least resistance. I'd guess that Holl needs to adjust his game to make it easier on himself by making it harder on others.

It seemed to me that Marner just braced/evaded the incoming hit and then the Jets got pissy because Marner chirped him

And who better to mentor a big man on the right side than Bogo?

I guess that’s all I’m saying. Guys like Simmonds and Bogo can be the guys on the team that the younger(ish) players turn to and say “how could have I handled that differently?”

Pretty simple, NHL players hit that shot 99% of the time. Have some respect and dont fly in for the hit.

When does Scheifele request a trade back home? Does he wait for Connor to settle in, first?

I think there's truth to that. They say the big guys on the team help other guys play bigger. If you're a big guy like Holl or Matthews or Hyman (or Engvall should he be recalled), it can only help round out their game.

Say what you want about the guy but he’s in his 15th season and has a cup under his belt.

The guy is a solid shutdown d man who was drafted way too high and spent the majority of his career playing on horrid teams.

He’s never going to have appealing numbers but he’s not there to play pretty... kind of like a bassist’s role so I may be a little biased
