Roenick was always trying to be the funny guy, but he never was.

It was painful to watch him try his hardest to be Brett Hull, and always fall short.

He should have drank more if he wanted to be Brett Hull.

Pierre Mcguire is funny because he knows so much about hockey but is so horrible as a personality and broadcaster. That's why he gets into trouble and made fun of. So awkward.

I really liked JR as a player even though he tormented the Wings for years. I was very happy when Chicago traded him for Zhamnov.

But you're right. He tried WAY too hard to be a showman. JR was always loud and obnoxious. So he was being himself. But then he turned into a sideshow Bob when it wasn't needed.

Hockey fans like hearing from former Star players because they can offer a unique insight which few have. But there has to be a proper balance of hockey knowledge and bravado.

It certainly did. Cherry is a great entertainer and knows the game. He's just stuck in the 80s. There's nothing redeeming about Milbury. He's a crusty old curmudgeon who thinks he's more important than he actually is. Not entertaining at all.
- gergeswillems

I'm a bit ambivalent on Milbury's performances - I neither liked him nor hated him.

But I still think it's BS that he lost his job for one remark, which wasn't nearly as bad as people made it out to be.

Yesterday, Stephen King tweeted this about Kayleigh McAnany:

Stephen King
@StephenKing

Enjoy your next job as a cocktail waitress in Tampa.

The blowback was harsh, and well deserved. People pointed out that there is nothing wrong with being a waitress.

This morning, King tweeted:

Stephen King
@StephenKing

I apologize to waitresses—cocktail and otherwise—everywhere. It was a dumb crack.

I get the feeling we are going to move on, and this will be forgotten.

Pierre offers information we don't need though. Like I don't need to know literally every player who ever played for Shattuck St. Mary's. And I don't need to hear him say "Filppula" in his fake Finnish accent. But he does know the game. I'll give him that.

There are two Pierre McGuires:

- calm, insightful Pierre
- monster truck rally announcer Pierre

If he could just ditch the latter, he's be fun to watch.

I do agree that he talks way to much to make a simple state, ent and that's part ofw hat makes him a terrible broadcaster. Evertyime he criticizes a player he has to talk about what a great guy he is and how he's met his kids and has a great family. Just get to the point Pierre.

That's cancel culture. I think NBC was looking for any small excuse to axe Milbury. Just like they did with JR. Cherry said far worse things over the years than what got him fired.

I miss Howie Meeker.

I would love it if broadcasts devoted more time to breaking down plays. They are very good at explaining what a team did, but there's a lot more room for them to explain why they did it.

- Atomic Wedgie

He was great. Loved the way he would point out when someone (frank)ed up. “Jeered, what was he thinking? See how he missed his man here. Good player but that was a bit of a bonehead play.”

It's risky with MIllbury. You never know what he'll say live on the air. Of course this is a man who climbed into the stands during a game and tried to beat a fan to death with his own shoe.

no way they trade Teo....he is thier best hitter. If they went the trade route for a good P, it may be gurriel. I hope not, but you have to give a good player to get one like castilla.

also saw some talk about going after Bryant and Hendriks from the cubs

- senstroll

Teoscar’s value will never be higher, plus he is baaaad defensively. Sell high!

Gurriel is the best OF (and young and cheap) hope they can hold onto him🙏

Yes, Cincinnati or cubs are best trade partners 🤷

Ya I listened to that interview and didn’t think it was big deal. They were all friends travelling together and if your hanging out with JR I’m pretty sure you know the type of guy he is. The fact that got him fired was kind of bizarre.

I was told yesterday that the determination of what is and isn’t cancel culture is very complex and potentially dependent on whether you like the person (or their Richard or not). I’m not sure I get it completely but I’m pretty you’re wrong. Stand by to be corrected.

Looking forward to Sidney Crosby's monotone personality devoid meaningless statements in 2025 and Ovechkin's cocaine fueled rambling about how he SHOOT PUCK

For years Wings fans had to listen to Sergei Fedorov begin each sentence with "It seems to me." Yzerman would literally never make eye contact with the guy giving an interview. Slava Kozlov never did learn English and Tommy Holmstrom's Swenglish was often more entertaining than the game itself.

If CBJ is out of the playoff race at the trade deadline.....

UFA Rental for Savard would be ideal
Add Jenner if possible

I didn't think that what Cherry said was worthy of firing, but I was secretly glad that they removed him, because it was inevitable that he was going to say something far, far worse.

No, but they found the note Trump left for Biden in the White House. Nice to see the tradition continue.

Damnit. I’m getting screwed in fantasy at the moment because of this and Laine.

Can you imagine the outrage today if say Elliotte Friedman purposely mispronounced names like Yommie Yagger or Teemu Salami like Cherry used to?

I disagree. I think that Grichuk will be the one traded.. Especially if they go after Brantley as well.
