Is this a copy/paste from last year?
- TheMussel

Last year I was probably saying the Leafs needed more grit and sandpaper, or something along those lines.

I think they did pretty well with that. Nobody is going to push around Jumbo Joe or Bogosian.

Edit : even Spezza can be a cantankerous old fart.

Gotta love how Lehtonen got 6:41 in ice time and only one shift in the third and that means Dermott is all but gone lol
- Dozzer

So what people are telling me is that Dubas, who got ridiculed here for not having enough dmen due to injury 2 years ago, are now wanting to trade the depth dmen?

I guess that's the only way he could interview him. It was like a FOX news piece om Trump
- RogerRoeper

It was a fluff piece for sure.

I really hope the Leafs can put it together this season and make a deep run in the playoffs.

I know. Everybody says that every year. But this season has a different vibe to it and the Leafs have a compelling mix of veterans and talented youth, with elite players sprinkled in. To the eye, it looks like things could turn a corner this time.

We are all in it together :D

Four games in but it definitely feels different

Wasnt that you railing against "cancel culture" earlier?
- Arctic_AARDVARK

No.

I wasn't "railing" against cancel culture, nitwit. I was explaining the difference between cancel culture and someone get poop canned justifiably.

I'm also not calling for the canceling of Babs forever. I just felt that LeBrun seemed to be conspicuously advocating for Babs. I would have enjoyed seeing a more nuanced and less biased take on the whole Marner and Franzen affairs.

Exactly.

Curious how Babs is now willing to chat about those subjects immediately after starting his NBC gig. It's almost like people wanted to hear him actually address the allegations instead of hoping they'd all just go away.

Were people arguing about not having enough dmen or enough quality dmen? Methinks the latter, amirite/amirov?

Well, the backlash started immediately so he had to do damage control. Pretty sure NBC bigwigs put some pressure on him.

I just read it, people who like him will still like him and people who don’t probably won’t change their minds regardless.

I'm hoping Marner and Franzen - especially the latter - will respond and provide more discussion.

CNN is reporting that Donald Trump will grant a presidential pardon to Nazem Kadri for his actions in the 2019 and 2018 playoffs.

He was a great coach at one point until I think he bought into his own hype and became an inflexible egomaniac.

Not sure if he gets a job any time soon but this NBC gig is certainly a showcase for him to try to build back the respect. A bit of humility would be a great start.

Ya Marners is not huge IMO, Franson seems a little bit different.

Marner's is huge in a way as it exposes an abuse of power over an inexperienced young player that seems pretty rampant in hockey (especially the junior leagues). Babcock knew exactly what he was doing with Marner and when he exposed the list to Bozak.

I suspect Bozak showed discomfort seeing the list and, only then, did Babs realize he over-stepped himself. Any apology he gave Mitch was likely damage control.

Maybe he's learned though?

Digressing, the Franzen stuff is pretty (frank)ed.

Mike Reilly? He was good in either Michigan or Minnesota. I thought he would be better when the Wild signed him as a FA out of college and it just never worked out. Hope it does for him.

I might be off on the details here.

It's also the ice queen vibe too. I wish they did an episode where she got wasted and got it on. Huge missed opportunity for that show.
