It will be difficult to play Boston without Couturier, since he typically gets matched against the Bergeron line. But I still think the Flyers should win at least 1 of those games. - jd250
Can't replace one the best centers in hockey but Hollywood and g going to need to take that on. |

Most said this would happen as soon as he signed the contract, but NHL people know better. I thought JvR playing 4th line minutes was a disgrace....but there's always someone else who can top it.
This whole "we have to pay more because of demand and stuff" has to end and end soon for the NHL. Most of the time not paying for the demand cost and losing out on the UFA is more beneficial to the team, most meaning 99 out of 100 times. If the GM is pressured to make the signing then they are just not good at their job. - Glak18
Good point, especially now with a flat cap and revenue uncertainty this year at least. I was critical of Fletcher for not being more active in the trade and FA market, but I can see it made sense not to be given the little cap space the Flyers currently have and Carter Hart needing a new contract next year. |

Rest assured I'm sure "twinkle toes" Skinner notches one tonight. He always seems to get on the score sheet on them.

Then ownership and management can take the responsibility for it then. Especially when their hands are tied and can't improve their team when they have contracts like Skinner and Okposo still hampering them.
I wonder if Jacky Jorts will stay knowing that or will he think to himself "You really tried guys I'm gonna stick it out because it's cool to do"? - Glak18
They’re not in as bad shape as you think, went out and got Hall (even if for one year), and have some promising young guys between cozens, Dahlin, Thompson, and Olfosson |

Coots will be missed for sure, but I'm not worried about who will take the responsibility of the team's top lines will be. My concern still is whether other teams try to take advantage of the JvR-Patrick-Voracek matchup. |

I just want the Flyers to play much better than they did last game, because otherwise they will not win many games against anyone.

Don't forget Mittlestat, he is only 22 and I think still has potential to be a very good player for them.

Depends on the person I guess. I look at their roster and I see them losing Hall next year unless they pay out a bigger term contract, 2 pro goalies to sign (they do have a decent prospect in Luukkonen for the future), needing to revamp their defense and giving Dahlin a contract that will make him want to buy 3 mansions.
Skinner.....7 years left at 9m
Okposo....3 years left at 6m
Lots of years and cap percentage to play in limited roles or scratch. This isn't like it used to be where teams could spend whatever and it only affected the team profits, a flat cap affects trades, recalls, signings and that percentage of the cap means just as much as how much they are scoring.
The days of "the best players play and that's it" are gone. |

Last game looked like they were in a middle of a 10 game losing streak. Luckily Hart played well and they got really lucky getting the win. They should of lost 6-3. I don't remember when DeSmith came into the game, but I remember his first tested shot was 9:05 left in the 3rd...absolutely terrible and the Penguins didn't look that good either. |

Do you remember who the prospect was prior to Mittelstadt who failed to do 1 pull-up during the combine? I feel like he turned out to become a super bust.
EDIT: Not a super bust, but that player was Sam Bennett for Calgary |

Wow, I missed this factoid .. thanks everyone! I did read Connor MacDavid was only able to do 6 pull-ups, but that is still 6X better than Mittelstadt. Talk about not taking the combine seriously.

You need to go back and look at the wording of your post, it was presented as not mittelstadt. This kid has also not done a thing to put this image to bed. |

The plan that was developing before Ghost went into the Covid protocol seemed to be trying him out again with Provorov. Braun had a few days on the "4th pair" with Gustafsson and Hägg together every day but one and Sanheim-Myers retained as a pairing.
So the Flyers could go back to something like that at first. - bmeltzer
Well they should try Ghost there in that spot. He is the best option outside splitting up the "2nd" pair. What I hope happens is they give him some lead way and don't bench after 1 mistake.
It is real simple Hagg should be the one who sits. |

First Ghost needs to outplay Hagg to earn that spot and he hasn't done that in years.

Boston looked horrible verse the Devils, losing two Dmen that are playing 20 minutes a night is very difficult to replace. Especially with Pasta out. - ClaudeFather
That’s right. I forgot pasta is still out. Them falling back because of the losses on d will not surprise me. Hopefully is bodes well for us in this killer div. |

Man,
Buffalo is a cautionary tale about tanking. Ton of high picks that so far have not translated. Big signings thst haven't panned out. Just yikes. - Tfaehner
They’re in the same boat as Edmonton imo. |

Yes he has; Ghost has carried Hagg when paired together. Hagg is one of the worst defenseman in the NHL. |

Well all the information is out there to dispute what your saying. Hagg doesn't pass the eye test and he sure as hell doesn't pass the analytical test. Up to you if you want to compare the 2 players. |
