The time for that was in the 1rst period after the big Euro dman ran a couple of your skilled guys. No push back no nothing.

I don’t want to hear anymore sluggish, no preseason excuses. No one had preseason games. It’s a sprint, remember. Another slop night like this tomorrow and Flyers are a .500 team. A loss to Boston and we are chasing the season. Wake-up Flyers!

This game is more proof what a garbage GM Hextall was....all of his GREAT prospects...where are they? JVR AND VORACEK...ridiculous contracts....Almost 16 million tied between those two for several more years.

Sanheim over Pastrnak
Laberge over DeBrincat
Patrick over Makar and Heiskanen

Frost was supposed to be a superstar too.

Overhyped prospects....no where to be found!

They have had some poor stretches in every game...your right they need to get this thing going. No big issue with a loss, but when another team just wants it more and is willing to pay a higher price that’s not a good sign.

Two of Hextall’s prospects are leading the team in scoring, just for the record lol. They were also taken mid to late in the first round of the draft and shouldn’t be expected to carry a team.

It wasn’t even competitive. Only line that was sometimes was the Laughton line.

24 teams passed on Pastrnak.

Debrincat passed over 38 times. At least once by every team.

Name ONE scout who had either of Makar or Heiskanen ahead of Patrick.

Ive seen some ridiculous Captain Hindsight WIP "ill hang up and listen" posts, but this one takes the stupid cake in a landslide.

Actually there were philly scouts that did not have Patrick in the top 3. As reported by bill. Although it’s not come out (as far as I know) who they had in front of nopa miro or makar had to be at least 1 of them. Hexy wasn’t hearing it and was taking nopa or nico at 2 whoever was there.

Why the (frank)ery is giroux on top line? Aeriosly? He’s should be moved to 3rd line. It’s time. I know most had horrible game but his time has come. Po specialist 3rd line 5v5 role player.

Patrick was the lock for 1st overall for almost a year leading up to the draft. It wasn't until the last few months that Hischier blew up and overtook Patrick for the 1st overall. Every team if not the Flyers was going to pick whomever the Devils didn't take 1st.

Except the Canucks, as per Trevor Linden, who reportedly had Makar and Pettersson as their top two kids available. They got lucky, obviously, with Pettersson being available at #5.

It really doesnt matter who scouts have. At the end of the day its pretty much a lottery. People watch kids play other kids. All the draft picks are talented and skilled and have made the NHL. It isnt a given science on how players will transition from Junior to professional. You just cant predict that. YOu also cant predict what will happen in the future. Opinions are like Aholes. Everyone has one and sometimes they end up right and sometimes they arent.

If drafting was something that scouts had down to a science we would never speak about Busts and there would not be any bad picks. Every team would know who the best picks are and get them when available. Its not down to a science which is why guys like Stefan, Daigle, Nichushkin, Yakapov, Pulijarvi and Zacha were drafted in the 1st round and didnt live up to the hype

hah Oh my. Some people really lose it when the team has a bad game. Blow up the team! Every prospect Hextall drafted stinks all contracts were terrible on and on.

No mention of Hart, Farabee Provy, TK.. I guess they all suck too after that horrible game. No GM has a Chrystal ball, and while you can say we passed on this guy for this guy... had other teams been so certain that Pasta (for ex) was a future star, why didn't they trade up to get him? The reason? because they didn't know. Nor did Boston.

Flyers look like the team that was getting manhandled by the Islanders in the bubble.

Funny, I said the same thing watching the game last night. It was sad to watch and if it wasn't for the awful Pens goaltending and defense, the Flyers would be 0-3.

It's a real crapshoot as you say. And while I don't like the JVR contract now, Hextall was very judicious with signing UFAs over his term, preferring to go the draft route. Many fans were critical that he wasn't more aggressive in trying to land the big fish. Where would be now if that was the case? Remember the panic last year in the first half when the team was struggling before they hit their stride in the new year?

Let's give them time. Coots is a big loss and it's going to hurt us. The issue last night was a lack of effort IMO which is not acceptable especially vs a desperate Buffalo team.

Some people need to chill. I wasn't a fan of Hexy's free agent signings, but he did draft well and most of those players are key contributors to a team that did fairly well last season. I do worry that the team has major defensive issues thus far this season, including too many turnovers in the neutral zone, forwards losing coverage, defensemen losing battles in the corners. Coots being injured doesn't help, but many of those issues I mentioned are from laziness.

I'm fine with all our picks and prospects. Jay Obrien was the only weird one imo. The rest were in the ballpark of analysts.

As far as last night id really like the flyers to hold gus accountable. While the team was bad as a whole. Gus stood out as horrifically bad. 2 straight games. You got rock steady smooth skating friedman sitting there. Give the kid a poop with hagg.

Might see Friedman. Might see a partial forward shuffle. Maybe...

JVR-Patrick-Giroux
Farabee-Hayes-Voracek

Leave the other lines the same.

Late last night they had tk over bee with g hayes. I think you could see that again early.

Friedman for me is a must. Gus has had two really awful games. Hagg friedman could be a really steady pairing.

With Coots out, I don’t think we can afford to keep a line with JVR and Voracek together. It was fine to give it some time when the Coots line could carry a big defensive load, not so much now.

Those aspects worry me too. The team didn't seem engaged. Let's see what happens tonight.

As I've said before, I am worried about the loss of Nisky and replacing him with a lesser dman whoever that is. It's going to hurt, and not to be a negative Nancy, but we have to be prepared for the possibility that the team overall regresses this year. If our young standout players don't deliver and or we get significant injuries, things could go sideways. The path to contention most times isn't a linear progression upwards. Having said that, I expect AV will get the most out of these guys and it's very early. Don't get too high nor too low..
