He’s definitely has the potential. Comparisons are so hard at the point, but his sniping is on par with The Great 8 at times (AT TIMES...) over the years. There’s sooo much potential. His passing, vision, & awareness are scary. His hand/eye/stick coordination are insane. He needs time to grow, and good coaching, but this kid’s someone to watch.

I couldn’t agree more... I think a lot of people got down on him because he didn’t exactly light it up his first year in GR (pretty sure he had most points as a rookie since mantha) but there was a reason he was considered 3rd in his draft class and I think if he can keep that motor going the kid will be a big impact player. Side note I remember the 2013 off-season hoping we would sign Ryan I always felt like he was super under appreciated by the ducks org. Anyways I’m happy to see things come around for him I think it’s gonna be a great year for him in Detroit.

You guys are running a fantastic back and forth here. It’s funny, I’ve avoided (and will almost always) Great8 comparable. My one caveat is that, from the right side circle on the power play (opposite of Ovechkin, right shot on left side) Zadina can absolutely rip it. The sound it makes is undeniable. He’s going to do some damage there. Ovi is a generational scorer, he just blows through the records any more.

What also impresssed me about Zadina, he is really good at retrieving pucks. He does really fast stick lifts and just mucks it up in the corner. The passes to Ryan and Fabbri tonight were outstanding. He’s not just looking to shoot. He’s an excellent linemate as well. Very, very impressive. And Bobby Ryan, yeah what a breath of fresh air. I was skeptical at the reunion because Brome has played so hard. I was wrong. That line with Bobby Ryan on it is dangerous. They were the better power play unit (in my opinion) tonight. It’s the second line we really needed to find.

Agree, my intent was to show similarities with someone of note today, someone who rips it like Zads does, and has the ability to see the flight of the puck like he does. I really wonder of Zads sees the flight-path of the puck before he lets it go (like Dr Sean Murphy in “The Good Doctor”....). You always hear of athletes who can slow the game down, be interesting to know what he sees.

I’m very impressed with how physical he is now. His strength is insane. His ability to lift a stick, how he lowers his Center of Gravity when he goes low (watched him do it tonight, literally went into a squat to keep his balance & pass the puck. This guy’s special. Very special.

I am definitely Team Ryan. Said it from the start: Character like his will change an entire team. If we trade him, I’ll be damn disappointed, this kid has a lifetime of lifetimes under his belt, what he can teach our younger players will be invaluable. The 2d line with Ryan is sublime to watch, smooth, deliberate, almost poetic. That line will be a monster with a few more games together.

There’s some special things brewing in HockeyTown, add in Veleno, Raymond,, Seider, etc.... man, this will be amazing to watch.

At the risk of blasphemy, I see little bits of Pav and Z in his game. Zadina has gotten insanely strong in a very short time. When I looked at the Larkin line, I see 200 ft center in Larkin, puck retrieval and net front in Bertuzzi, and Mantha can shoot. With the Fabbri line, I thought we’d have a center and two shooters. What I love is that Ryan and Zadina can do both jobs. Ryan has been physical too. I am excited to watch these guys together. I hope Brome and Namestnikov can find their way with limited minutes. I’d love to see a third line that could be dangerous too.

Solid effort last night. That's what I was looking for. Hustle! If we work hard we'll be in most games. It's clear that our goaltending is much better. Bernier saved us a few times just like Greiss did in the opener.

Better performance from the top 2 lines especially Zadina. He's turning into quite the puck thief. Very happy to see Ryan score. Fabbri looked alot more settled with Ryan playing on his wing.

Can we please demote Staal to the taxi squad? He's like the Jimmy Howard of defense. Just horrible. He literally gets beaten to the puck everytime. And when he does have the puck he just gives it away.

So it was a well earned win and going forward I'd still like to see some more skill, size and grit added. Rasmussen, Smith, Djoos and Lindstrom need to be added to make us a better and more well rounded team.

Filppula, Nielsen and Staal need to go away. We need more youth on this team to make us tougher to play against. Father Time is undefeated and Filppula, Nielsen and Staal are the Washington Generals.

Poor Namestnikov. Unlucky. I hope Mick is right and he scores on Monday. He could've easily scored a hat trick. It all evens out in the wash. Larkin played better. He's at his best when he's carrying the puck and using his speed to create offense.

We'll need to do a better job of screening the goalie on the PP. If you're going to stand in front of the goalie can you actually impede his sight? We're too stationary. Move where the goalie moves. Don't just stand there in one place the whole time. Or off to the side.

We need Mantha shooting the puck more. He needs to keep moving his feet or else he drifts to the perimeter too much. We want him wiring the puck from the slot. Bert was mucking it up a bit more so that's a good sign for him. He's the ugly goal king on this team. I bet he scores on Monday.

We're shaking off the cobwebs. Is it just me or is Danny Dekeyser looking good? Maybe I'm seeing what I want to see. I don't know. I've ripped this guy quite a bit so I think it's only fair I give him credit when it's deserved. Keep it up, Danny!

Not seeing why the Wings need 2 goalies on the TS....a goalie trade in the works? I think this will change if and when the AHL plays.
Staal needs to ride out the season on the TS. If Djoos is out, Bring up Cholo. Youth needs to come up in a few games. Bernier had a lot of "puck luck", but I'll take it. I'll bet most of the high danger shots were when Staal was on the ice. I thought Merrill was invisible, so I have no opinion on him, other than he was physical at times. But LD is a position of need and has to be addressed sooner if the Wings are capable of winning now........IF!

Looks like the NYR might have ruined Sorokin's confidence. Will the loss determine his effectiveness this season???

I can’t remember who he passed it too but zadina had a steal at the blue line with two defenders on him and he was able to get the pass off with a quick deke.. so I would say yes when he’s in the zone he can definitely slow the game down.

He's 25 and was consistently great-to-elite in the KHL for the last five seasons. He's not a fragile young kid straight out of juniors. I don't think there's any real reason to be concerned about it.

I thought your write up was dead on, and they knew it in the room. What impressed me was, by the third, they were making zone entries much better. We’re very lucky to have the goalies we have right now.

It's a mindset. Even though we lack high end talent we are still capable of beating good teams. So many times last year this team would throw in the towel each time they were scored on. I was expecting the Wings to fold like a cheap suit when Svechnikov scored his 2nd goal but they didn't. That's a great sign for this team.

I'm hoping that losing so many games last season has toughened them up mentally. The players will never say it but we know they're all happy that Jimmy Howard is not on this team anymore. Great guy but he didn't give his team a chance to win when he started.

Both Greiss and Bernier give us a chance. It makes a world of difference when a team has confidence in its goalies. No one is expecting Roy or Hasek. But just don't be Howard. We can steal alot of points this season because let's face it. No one respects this Red Wings team.

So we need to make hay while teams aren't taking us seriously. Early start tomorrow. Noon? Players are creatures of habit. Their internal clocks will be all screwed up. For both teams. Let's take advantage of it because we're supposed to suck, remember? 😉

Juggernaut teams don't exist. If this team can just remember that we can win more games than we're expecting. And when we lose? Don't get down on ourselves like we have in the past. That's how losing streaks get started. There's no pressure on this Red Wings team to do anything. Take advantage of that.

Beiga waived

Christian Djoos is out of Covid quarantine tomorrow and needs a roster spot. Where Biega is going is unknown, the Taxi squad is full so either Biega is sent to GR or someone currently on the Taxi squad gets sent down, perhaps one of the goalies.

Aaron Dell waived by Toronto. Who claims him, NJ or Chicago???? NJ has first dibs. I think they can not pass him up and then waive their recently claimed goalie.
