I don't think you'll find anyone here to defend PK, and I don't know why he wouldn't completely take the pass away when Marchand was coming from a bad angle and had Palmieri on his back. - rmdevil313
The only thing I want is for PKs shots from the point to be on net |

As I said, these kids are great in open ice. The Devils best periods have been OT. |

Well at least he will get credit for it. Ty Smith can’t steal it like yesterday. |

This may have been Hughes best game as a devil so far, unfortunately couldn't bury a couple of his chances and made a nice tip pass to palms for a breakaway
Yegor!!!!
Devils looking better than I thought and keeping things close |

If you’re going to come out with 2 points, no better way than that. Great play and great goal. Hughes with another step forward too. |

This was a good win. They played their best period so far in the 3rd. Not counting OT where I think the Devils stole it both games.
The boys looked so happy to winter Yegor and for Ruff. This team cold be fun and will look better with Nico, Bratt and Vatanen. |

I think palms and seves have had a little rough time starting the season, with palms being a reason for 2 goals
It was good to see palms and seves having a helping hand on the winner

How much should it cost to get the "Kovalchuk" peeled off of my #17 jersey and get "Sharangovich" put on? I hope they don't charge by the letter! |

if you do it at the arena shop it's an arm and a leg. some local sporting goods stores do nameplates but it usually is by the letter lol. |

What a fun game!
Poetic justice - after D bag MacAvoy ran Sharangovich in the first game to have him be the hero in OT is just awesome.
I (frank)ing hate the Bruins with every piece of my being after Marchand elbowed Johanssen in the head and put him out for some 8 weeks with a concussion, in the final minutes of a non competitive game we were down like 3 goals in. Scum. Bags. Just like Marchamd kneeing that guy in the head. Just like MacAvoy running Yegor Thursday and punching Kuakkanen in the back of the head. Just like, just like, just like.... its a culture up there. They are all troglodytes and mouth breathers.
Yeah they are a talented team, but a bunch of slimebags at the same time so its always great to see them lose. They aren't so scary without the giant freak of nature Chara either. I am sure they a lock for the playoffs, but think they are in decline and losing the pieces they did will be more of an issue than they think. Whatever F them all.
Also having said that Washington plays a similar game. Chara and Wilson on the ice at the same time sounds like a meat grinder. Watching the Buffalo blogs they are their usual cheap shot selves.
Dont get me wrong I love hard nosed hockey, big hits, even fights, but intentionally trying to injure someone just isn't something I respect.
Anyhow, I am really looking forward to seeing how these kids develop this year. |

Can’t argue with that.
They’ve been fun games. |

I’m encouraged that Hughes looks like he’s taken a pretty big step forward and at least looks like he belongs on the ice, Smith looks NHL ready, the hype around Sharangovich this offseason seems well deserved and of course that it very much seems like Blackwood is for real.
Discouraged by PK looking no better than he did last year and so far very discouraged that Johnsson has managed 1 shot and has gotten shoved all over the ice, it’s early but he does not look anything like a player who belongs on the top two lines. |

I think johnnson was helped out largely by Toronto's offense and playing with top players where the other team had to focus on them |

This kind of thing happens all the time. Guy plays sheltered minutes then gets put on a team where he gets way more ice time than before. Either exposes his weaknesses or does well in new expanded role. I'm still confident that he'll be a solid player for us since he has all the tools to fit into the kind of game we're playing. |

I’ve watched the post games from Ruff. Mmaybe he really is what we need after all. He’s like the USA version of Lemaire. He has tons of experience and coached some good teams. Maybe our young team needs a vet coach like Ruff? He seems to have a finger on what’s up. Of course we haven’t faced adversity yet. He hasn’t won a Cup correct? It’s possible he could be the coach to help us develop for 3 years and when it’s time to challenge for a Cup we end up needing a different voice. We’ll see, but it looks ok so far.
Something else to keep in mind.. yes we got 3 of 4 from Boston.. but we also haven’t scored much (yes I know not giving up much either). That’s obviously not going to cut it as teams skate off the rust and return to their baselines. Just gotta hope other bad teams in the league manage to get some wins too. Detroit and Ottawa won the other night, so that’s good. Wish we could go near .500 and still be a bottom 3 team in the standings. |

I’m aware and commenting with that in mind. I assumed we were to the level of understanding where I didn’t need a disclaimer.
Yes 2 games in. With that said.. these are my thoughts. Here I put asterisks around the giveaways to make it more clear.
*Mmaybe* he really is what we need after all. *Maybe* our young team needs a vet coach like Ruff? *Of course we haven’t faced adversity yet.* *We’ll see*, but it looks ok *so far.*
The rest was stating the obvious.

For a team with 44 weeks off between hockey games having one bad period to start the season is not surprising. Ruff deserves credit for this overall quality play; but it’s going to be hard getting scoring out of this group because we simply don’t have the horses. Not to mention being down Bratt and Nico. Lindy will get the defense more involved to help but it’s a problem. That said we had a few good pushes with some offensive zone time and that was a good sign.
To me, PK looked a little better then I remember him. Murray and Kulikov looked very good too. Best of all Ty Smith finally had a good camp and getting on the scoreboard is great for his confidence. Vats will help too so the D looks very respectable with everyone health.
I wouldn’t compare Ruff to Lemaire but I sure feel better about him after two games then when we hired him. But it’s two games and there will be hard times ahead. |
