My decades-long lament is they still do not have the overall team speed to out-chance and win puck races with the faster clubs. If they make it to the finals, it will take a Vezina-like season by Hart
- DaveofYork

I disagree with this. I don't think the Flyers are a slow team. The Flyers were also one of the better defensive teams last year. I trust the coaching staff to correct the issues and get the team playing better.

Just curious, what team(s) do you consider slow?

Irrelevant to the Flyers situation.

Can you name me one NHL analyst, local, national or whatever that views the Flyers as a slow team. That feels that they're overall team skating is a detriment to becoming a top team?

I was amazed at TK's reaction. That was amazing restraint on his part and speaks to his growing maturity as a player.

Full disclosure Im 51 and would have spit my drink on the table.

Not bill but I leave everything the same except..
Patrick 1c
Frost 3c

Patrick has already played with those 2 and had chemistry with them tonight.

- Tfaehner

if short term, I think you just put Frost with Coots line and let hayes line go #1. If longer I would maybe move Patrick but I would want Patrick staying with who he will play with long term this season.

Maybe none, I pay little attention to that kind of thing. It's just my opinion based on what I see. I hope you are right

Crosby scored 2 goals in 2 games and dominated in face-offs, not bad for someone that is not noticeable.
- jd250

yes he did, maybe they can create a game that just requires that...

Or maybe just drop Frost in Cout’s spot ? I liked the game last night from the Patrick line. We’ll find out soon enough.

Gus is horrendous in his own end. Hägg still stinks. Braun is in a spot he shouldn’t be. They need to add a top end defenseman if they want to give themselves a real chance to win a cup. Can’t wait for Ghost to return.

I dont think asking frost to handle hard match ups is the answer. Reducing the minutes of lindblom tk is also not the answer. Jake and jvr have already been sheltered. Keep it that way.

Taryn’s pant suit was fabulous last night !

Ugh. This is part of why I hated the penguins feed. Errey also kept saying that tk was purposefully kicking the puck in twice.

I think they have improved the overall team speed to a point where I think it is more then enough when they are clicking and in rhythm. The backend has great speed and mobility...maybe Hagg and ghost aren’t the most fleet of foot but it’s not like they are below average. Are there faster clubs? For sure, but I don’t think it’s a huge problem any longer....as far as Hart, I think if he continues to grow, and all signs point that way, the Flyers will have solved their biggest issue. To me the Flyers have a team this year that can contend.

I dont mind Hagg but the other 2, I agree. With Gus I don't know yet but he doesn't seem to care to play D. He just steps up and they get by him and he doesn't seem to care. That and the forwards were not covering for the D, especially in the 2nd. I would hope AV would tear into Gus. I'm pretty sure they will tighten things up. I do think Ghost will help but not ideal for top spot. Second game, back to back with Pitt, I would have preferred a clinic win but with losing Coots and the crazy season, i understand the fire wagon game, at least they won.

I hate their broadcasts....I was hoping the pens wouldn’t tie it up...I think I would have had to mute it.

They're 2-0!

Of course they can wait until Gostisbehere is ready to play.

How exactly do they add a top end defenseman in the immediate future?

I think ghost can help as well....a third pairing with Braun and Hagg or just one of them is still not that bad. Gus definitely makes his $ on the offensive side of the game...lol

Crosby is always good but he usually can carry the team, rack up 3 points, we didn't see that Crosby in either game and the games were more wide open than normal. Even his 2 goals involved some luck, skill too but just not the dominate Crosby. That with MIA Malkin and it will be tough for them but only game 2

People are inventing things I guess they think are happening or should be happening instead of looking at the facts. Voracek and JVR have not been sheltered through the first 2 games.

I was in the room when the (non) incident happened last season. Voracek was simply chatting with JVR after practice and wasn't even close enough to Vigneault to hear what the coach was saying at the moment. He wasn't laughing behind the coach's back. He was simply in the same room as the coach, and he and JVR chuckled over something.

No one thought anything of it, except Mike, I guess.

I was also in the room the day after the article was published. Jake was peeved at Mike, and understandably so (because the article made it seem like he was insubordinate or didn't care about the team being in a funk). But Sielski wasn't there, and Voracek was perfectly amiable with the rest of us. Last night was their first interaction since then, apparently.

Here's something to know about Jake. Normally he's someone who blows up in the moment, says what's on his mind, and then it's over. In this case, I guess, he filed it away until his next interaction with Mike.

They got matched up pretty much exclusively against the pens bottom 6. In game 1 they were 4th in es toi. Last night was better all around
