Ahh... very good point.

Still, the AAV makes things a bit more difficult to navigate.

- mjones242

The thing is, guys like Marner are never available at that age. And the actual $$ is very low for a star player.

When we talk about the intangibles the Leafs are missing... The lack of battling, attention to defence, hitting, blocking shots..

Willy is the poster child for all these things. I know fans only see the goals, but his game is lacking in many aspects. GM's see these things. Huberdeau probably has one of the best contracts. MacKinnon, PLD, Pastrnak, Kucherov...

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Definitely agree that this team leans far too heavily on skill and finesse and not enough on compete and all of those things your team can do to make your team a nightmare to play against.

Willie would be my prime choice as trade bait.

Willy's "Faults" are also exaggerrated because of where eh plays. If he was in Florida his contract would have never been an issue, as are any of his "Faults"

Moving Marner is idiotic.
- RogerRoeper

No it isn't. The lineup is still unbalanced.

Trade him Columbus (who tried offersheeting him) and take back Dubinsky’s contract.

Dubois and Dubinsky have a combined cap hit of 10.8M.

Marner + Andersen for Dubois + Dubinsky + Korpi/Elvis + 1st

It obviously needs to be the right deal for us, too, Roger.

Bergevin will have so much pressure to get PLD Leafs won't be able to match the boatload he'll offer

I'd be shocked if Marner doesn't hit minimum 70+ points in 56 games.

Nah, I do like the Rielly for Jones part, but they would (and should) never trade Jones.

Is he? 7 years in WPG and he's missed the playoffs 3x, lost 3x in the first round, and had one solid playoff run where they lost in the Conference Finals to VGK.

Decent? Sure. "Great"? Nah.

I do like PLD quite a bit.

I'm willing to endorse your trade, Gull!

I'd trade anyone if the return is good enough.

Marner for Dahlin? Hell yes.

Marner for Zaitsev? Hell no.

What has Ekblad proven? He plays in Florida so he gets zero criticism.

If anything, he's a big disappointment so far.

Who? Thornton was, he was only 26. Seguin was traded, but wasn't established in the same, and Hall was. All of those were horrible trades.
- RogerRoeper

Sundin was 23 when he was traded to Toronto I believe. Subban was 26 and had a Norris when he was traded. Just off the top. But my point is more that if the organization decides one of the big contracts has to go, IMO he's the most logical choice. And at the very least not "completely idiotic"

Natty center is going to play on the wing here?

No way he'd come here with JT and Matthews.

I wasn't going as far back as Sundin, only beacuse young players and picks were viewed differently and moved more.
