You mean the goalie? Sorry, it wasn't very clear*.

Your comment about goalies having the best #s infront of the best Ds was ludicrous. Connor Hallebuyck was the NHLs best goalie last season. They lost Buff and Trouba and were terrible.
- RogerRoeper

But they have reliable fwds, and are well coached. Scheifele is a stud. The forwards get back and help out the D.

Im not trying to take anything away from Hellebuyck, he's better than freddy.

Washington’s big four:

- Ovechkin
- Backstrom
- Semin
- Green

When they finally won the Cup only two were still there.

Bye Marner and Rielly.

- Steven_Seagull

Moving Marner is idiotic.

Their top 6 forwards are worse defensively than the leafs, much worse. They do not get back to help the D.

Ask anyone who follows the Jets or look at all the stats, the Jets top 6 have one of the worse defensive stats in the league.

Stop spewing bs.

No it isn't. Who else are you going to move if things blow up in their faces again this year? He makes 10.8 million dollars. You aren't moving Matthews. You aren't moving the Captain you signed to a FA deal. And you (shouldn't) move Nylander at 6.9 before Marner.

Is he? 7 years in WPG and he's missed the playoffs 3x, lost 3x in the first round, and had one solid playoff run where they lost in the Conference Finals to VGK.

Decent? Sure. "Great"? Nah.

We'\ll trade him and see him hit 100+ points in a season. You are getting so carried away about his cap hit you are forgetting his is signed through his prime years and is proven 90+ point forward.

Notice no teams ever trade players like this? Why is it?

Nylander would be the easiest piece to move. How many teams want to take on that MM 10.8M contract?

I think BillNy has one of the best value deals in the league but you aren't moving AM34, JT, or MM. You just aren't.

And he didn't do much anywhere else. I'm shocked he wasn't fired sooner in Carolina and they won the cup not long after booting him.

His coaching record is horrific.

Marner makes 7.5 in cash. That's a big + to acquiering him. Teams will line-up for him

He's right, There's a lot of one dimensional forwards on Winnipeg and that D is horrible.

Plenty of Star players better than Marner have been traded in, or entering their primes. The Leafs even have one on the team now.

The fact remains, if they decide things aren't working and they have to move one of the "Big 4" who do you move? He's the logical choice

Yup!

He still has that miracle Carolina run where they lost to DET on his resume that seems to wash out all of the "Missed Playoffs" seasons.

I'd much rather see what Keefe can do for a season than start entertaining coaches who haven't won jack poop in 20+ years in the NHL.

When we talk about the intangibles the Leafs are missing... The lack of battling, attention to defence, hitting, blocking shots..

Willy is the poster child for all these things. I know fans only see the goals, but his game is lacking in many aspects. GM's see these things. Huberdeau probably has one of the best contracts. MacKinnon, PLD, Pastrnak, Kucherov...

Who? Thornton was, he was only 26. Seguin was traded, but wasn't established in the same, and Hall was. All of those were horrible trades.
