It is tough to imagine any team separating themselves from the pack in the North.
- Aetherial

I said the same thing before the season.
The top 4 teams will be separated by a few pts.
Its going to be a tight division

Jt had a good game.
The top line defensive play sucks.

I knew if ottawa put the effort in and leafs didnt (like a lot games) the sens could take several points from the leafs.
No surprise.

But its only 2 games in.
Still early.

Ya, not many strong performances but JT, Hyman and Kerfoot were all battling.

Rielly, Brodie, Marner, Matthews, Willie and Freddy all had a really bad night ...can't happen.

Lets see what the response is tonight.... tune in early for Simmonds-Watson.

I took a look and spent the night on a politics site talking hockey. They advised that there were places where that kind of conversation would be appreciated.

Is Nighthawk Beatlejohn? He told me he wasn’t a passive aggressive troll but that he just liked to talk hockey, incessantly about the shortcomings of the Leafs.

I’m assuming it will be a big bounce back. Something like the St. Louis/ Colorado game last night.

Maybe not 8-0 but I could see a 5-0 or 6-1 type thing.

Years ago in my youth I had some tussles with BeatleJohn. His M.O. was always to come in and pontificate from his soapbox. He always assured us Neanderthal-like masses that he was a friend to us all and only wanted to make sure that any optimism about the Leafs was erased by his knowledge and experience. He'd latch on to the internal glass is empty types and spend the nights sharing his wisdom and tell the AA's of the world why they are so smart and why the Glucksy's of the world were so stupid.

Hawksy is either the same shaman of wisdom or one of his dopey followers.

It’s been a tough 48 hours....

Someone we know died in a car accident yesterday, leaving a wife and 2 young children behind

Day before , wife’s co-worker at hospital dies of terminal cancer at 40, leaving 2 kids behind

Same day, friend of a friends 12 year old daughter hung herself

Then, the Leafs lose to Ottawa

Kinda puts things in perspective

- mr.sir

That's tragic.

Woke up to bad news here in Norway this morning as well. A cottage burned to the ground in the middle of the night. Only 1 guy managed to get out. 5 dead - 4 of them children

I'd almost prefer to see a regular old hard fought 3-1 win. I wonder if a couple of new faces draw in tonight - Robertson or Sandin maybe. If Campbell shows well tonight the whispers will begin.

Count me in on that one.

Andersen is getting to much leash based on reputation. Hasn’t been good of late. Campbell has been solid since coming here. Give him a couple games.

They need to care for a full 60.

They had a couple shifts back to back where they thoroughly controlled the play, but then when they don't pot one they let up and the tide turns. Looks like they get discouraged and stop playing.

Leafs have so much talent, they don't need to fight hard.

It's the Senators FFS. Just have a fun skate and rack up the personal points!

there's an urgency you see from the top guys when they're down 2 goals in the 3rd. would like to see that kind of jam right from the start

Burn it all down.

Matthews has 0 goals in 2 games. Trade him.

Marner couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Trade him.

Thornton has declined into a pool of molasses. Trade him.

Ander5en is Ander5en. Trade him.

etc. etc. *whine*

How did Thornton look last night?

I'm not seeing a lot of mentions of Marner and Matthews on the score sheets so far - is two games enough to panic?

This is exactly what I'm talking about. They can do it, they just don't do it enough. If they did it more often they wouldn't be in this situation

He's been terrible. Brutal fit on that line. Made no sense when they said they were going that way, is been even worse then I thought.

The lineup needs a major rethink. Matthews is alone on an island right now, carrying 2 boat anchors. Thornton is a 4th liner.

Marner still has a terrible shot, but I think they’ll end trying to set Matthews up again.

Matthews hasn’t scored but he is all over the ice. Seems like he could score every shift.
