Many Leafs fans are far too invested in their favourite player, and they all have their antagonist.
The cognitive dissonance of fans is insanely galvanized. When anything goes wrong its instantly Freddys fault. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Can you just for two seconds stop trying to make your entire mantra that you're on a pedestal above all other leaf fans? Perhaps... Even for a moment... It may result in some credibility for you. 🤷♂️

I never thought Brodie was the savior or even a good signing.
Tonight though, he is the victim of Rielly, Ander7en, and the 1st line being a hot mess all night. - Aetherial
Rielly playing too many minutes, Andersen is a different matter, he was especailly putrid tonight From doing spastic snowangels looking for the puck to that gaping five hole. Brodie has not looked good so far. He was doing the Red Hot Chili Peppers cha cha all night. Give it away, Give it away now

The forwards played ZERO defence tonight.
Why does nobody see this??
It's a team sport. You have other duties than just trying to score. Thats the main issue here. Theres no pushback, theres no fight in the dog. They all just dream about raising their hands when they score and float around until they get the puck. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Imo it’s time Shanny goes public & tosses out some vitriol & send a message to all from Dubas on down except Keefe who is trying to find a team identity that matters.
I’m much like you. I’m not all rosey when needed & idc if ppl agree. They are entitled to not to. I suffer with my own team lol - Nighthawk
Ive suffered for so long with this team.
Many fans get carried away and tell themselves that the Leafs are better than they are. They dont to accept the flaws, especially the ones of their favourite players.
I used to be more of a homer, but ive been let down so many times now that ive become much more pragmatic.

Like Babs always preached..
Play better defence, and you'll have the puck more often to do the things you enjoy doing.
Its crazy to think, but they were more hungry w/o the puck in that first year and they are now. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Maybe they just need to be spoken to a different way, and maybe more comfortable seats in the dressing room as well as their favorite restaurants catering the games. That would make them play better.
Dubas just needs to figure out how to inspire them and nourish their egos.

He’s not making a scape goat out of Freddie. Instead he’s laying it on the entire team & that includes Dubas who is the architect. How long does this team stay together as presently built?
Heh over in Canuckville almost everything is blamed on JB by many fans & rightfully so til bad contracts disappear.

Some of the stuff that came out about Babcock did not sound good at all. The players had tuned him out and he had to go.
BUT... any hope of this core being held accountable disappeared the day he was let go. Dubas bringing in someone like Keefe just reinforced the culture of entitlement he had fostered.

I’ve always been a homer but try to be real. 1st lesson is tune out the media. 2nd is trust our eyes. Lastly I've watched the Leafs & Canucks since the 60’s & it’s a been a long and arduous road of pain.

Sit a star once in awhile. When was the last time that happened? Stop the coddling.

Yup. Tune out the coach & it got them what?
Systemic issues & coach gets fired.

It certainly seems like it huh?
I just dont understand how anyone could call how the last 2.5 seasons could be called a success. They took a step backwards, and in prime winning years. Maybe they'll figure it out, but at some point time will start running out.

Very true!
The crazy thing is, the Toronto media isnt the problem, its fans on twitter who drink the kool aid. Its an echo chamber of charts and graphs, and "analysts" who claim to have the golden tablets of infinite hockey knowledge. I started watching the Leafs in the early 90's, and ive gone through enough stress for 3 lifetimes because of it.
