I haven't loved or hated Vesey but that line seems to be the best line through two games so I may leave that one.

But the rest I would change for sure.

Hyman/Matthews/Marner
Mikheyev/Kerfoot/Simmonds
Barabanov/Spezza/Thornton.

Also... I probably bench Dermott and give Lehtonen a look. Not that I hate Dermott... But he looks way to panicked with the puck and Bogo is not reliable or fast enough to cover for his sporadic (frank) ups.

Insert Robbie...

Hyman Marner Robertson

Just a few in game shifts aka double shift Marner a bit.

Yup, that message needs to be sent to the team and should have been sent in the second intermission.

Unless he has something we haven't seen, Thornton is no longer a legit everyday NHL player.

I think I would go Marner with Matthews, Mikheyev with Tavares. The two fastest guys left go with Kerfoot.

- Aetherial

Losing to the Sens who haven’t played a game in more than 10 months is unforgivable. I hate to say it but it might be time for a blockbuster trade. When I watched Dubois in the playoffs it bothered me because we don’t have anyone who matched his intensity.

Which is why he needs not be even going there.

Also, you play with Matthews. He will always be the shooter.

Marner needs to stick to what he does best, and work on simplifying it and becoming more responsible with the puck. 🤷‍♂️

This whole try to be a shooter thing has made him an 11 million dollar penalty killer through two games. 🤦‍♂️

- joel878

I agree. A 20 goal, 60 to 70 Assist player seems just fine to me. Especially one that kills penalties.

Member Blake’s first year with the Leafs...I member. Soft shot to the breadbasket almost every time. His first shots as a Leaf are similar to David Clarkson’s first shift as a Leaf in preseason.
I literally said WTF out loud both times.

Nothing will ever top Eriksson scoring on a delayed penalty his 1st game for us 😜

When you live through your kids you can feel helpless. We cannot do anything for them other than be there for them & be strong & supportive. Even lie to them to help them.

I feel like Marner got real intimidated by his salary real fast. He feels the heat and as a result feels he needs to be more than a passer. Just my opinion. 🤷‍♂️

That contract was a cancer before the ink was dry on it.

- joel878

Well he wanted the big pay day like he deserved it. Time he plays like it. Gotta be real sorry.

Oh it's past that time.

The players and coaches know who is setting the tone. Those player(s) need to go. There is something seriously missing on this team and they need to look at the parts that haven't been changed yet because all the changes over the last couple years have made zero difference.

I have no kids of my own but I do know it’s painful at times to be a parent. That's life & all that can be done is do our best & try to be the rock. Mothers really have it hard & need us in those trying times.

100% he does, I'm not making excuses for him at all. He wanted every penny and earning any less than it isn't acceptable.

The amount of players around the league who could have brought what he has to the table through two games for a fraction of the price is complete insanity. 🤦‍♂️

you mean the game, or my parenting

If it is the game, you already know. You watched the Habs outwork the Leafs all over the ice. Just picture a more pathetic version of that effort.

In short an impact trade for change should be in the forefront. How long does Dubas stick to his guns?

Marner + Andersen for Dubois + Korpi or Elvis + 1st + Dubinsky (LTIR)

The Jackets tried offersheeting Marner, and were offering about the same cap hit.

Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Tavares-Dubois-Mikheyev
Robertson-Kerfoot-Simmonds

Lots of cap space to add a good top-4 D.

Very true sad to say. I cannot make excuses for any Canuck not earning a big pay day & last I looked there was at least 1 lol

He will be let go before he will trade one of the top 4 forwards.

If there is no different result this year, I don't know how the organization can avoid making the tough choice. Many people, including the Leafs organization have already said that this is the year where there are no more excuses.

It's one game and the way Brodie and Andersen have been handling the puck in the first two games (live grenade) its no surprise. Apart from the obvious softies that Andersen has been letting in, I'm not sure would be giving Keefe a free pass. Two games two stupid too many men on the ice penalties. Letting Chabot crosscheck Matthews in front of the Leaf bench without an answer was bad.

It was all in place, there was a plan. There was going to be some pain.

But they deviated from that plan, players got paid too much and became entitled. They turned on their coach, the GM bailed them out, and now we're here. Sure Babs made some mistakes, but the players and got a pass for quitting on the coach (and the fans) and thats a bad sign. Lots of coaches are Richards, but they win.

If i feel bad for anyone its Keefe. Clearly the players are stubborn and are almost impossible to get through to, and the GM isnt doing him any favours bringing Thornton in for his swan song. Brodie wasnt ever going to solve a damn thing, Bogo is press box material, and Vesey/Simmonds are meh at best.

They strayed from the plan, tried to take shortcuts, and now they're like a rudderless ship w/o a captian.

I gotta believe that. He’s gonna fall on his own sword. His job is on the line for sure.
