It also creates far worse hardships AKA divorces. Lose everything to that & yet ppl defend millionaires. Society can be stupid.

I think the part you’re missing is that if a star athletes goes down then millions suffer... people pay good money on tv packages, memorabilia, etc... children look up to these guys as heroes, and on and on.

Their job reaches far further than just playing hockey... and that is the primary difference between a regular job and theirs. When they can’t do their job it’s felt on a far wider scale. It’s not all about stats and wins.
