If they didn't have the regulation they have, they're would be far more dead oil workers.

Theres always going to be risk. I never said i like violent cross-checking, just that you cant always demand rule changes every time a star player has to face the physical side of the game.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Every year they go through phases where they tend to let some things go and then get called tighter. You don’t need rule changes. They have a rule. Matthews agent and others have made some noise that should get some discussion going inside the League.

This happens every year in a whole bunch of rules. Somehow Nightsweat is unhappy that an agent would speak on behalf of his player.

Yup, that's absolutely bad too. I agree fully.

Goes hand in hand with what I have been talking about.

- Santo_44

Ok then!

lets suspend both Matthews and Chiarot for a couple games.

Your words not mine.

You obviously never played & knew there are other ways to get a point across. You make a player wear the puck. You don’t need to go for the head to injure. Also can hit him on puck retrieval & let him know you’re around. It’s a big boy game after all.

It’s good to hear from the anti-ballerina squad. It’s too bad these professional athletes don’t measure up for you. I assume that you set the same very standards in masculinity for yourself as well.

Just a suggestion: why not just keep to the Leaf trolling

Heh I work for a living & don’t complain. The average working person doesn't have it easy. Athletes choose their sport & make millions if good enough. My heart doesn’t bleed for them nor are they special. They are well paid to perform & nobody forces them to do so. If my biggest problem was escrow & how to avoid taxes cuz of I make so much I’d not be here lol

Oil workers i knew are now dead.

People who work for a living, always face danger. Thats life.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

A good perspective yet ppl champion millionaire jocks. I know many ppl in construction that have died from various industrial diseases or work related injuries that changed quality of life. It also creates far worse hardships AKA divorces. Lose everything to that & yet ppl defend millionaires. Society can be stupid.

C'mon dude dont be like this.

His opinion isn't absurd. It's very common. He's not a troll because he has a different opinion.

Everyone is allowed to have their say, but people who've played have a different perspective, and people who havent should probably listen a little more.

I think the part you’re missing is that if a star athletes goes down then millions suffer... people pay good money on tv packages, memorabilia, etc... children look up to these guys as heroes, and on and on.

Their job reaches far further than just playing hockey... and that is the primary difference between a regular job and theirs. When they can’t do their job it’s felt on a far wider scale. It’s not all about stats and wins.

hockey players aren't oil workers.

They play a game. There are absolutely zero comparisons there.

I don't think any of the people saying we need to make hockey safer have ever worked a blue collar job.

Looking at money clouds our judgment on what's really important and makes people happy. Health.

It's just because it's Matthews that they're upset about it.

It's not a good topic to discuss because theres so much more to talk about after the opening games, but here we are. This will continue every week because its just what some people like to focus on.

He’s a troll based on months of trolling. That’s just my opinion. But I’m not the guy referring to players as ballerinas or talking about big boys league. I find the argument of associating cross checking with manliness idiotic.

I think he was referring to the hockey fans who always complain about how its too dangerous.

He said he doesn't agree with violent cross-checking.. I really think theres no "there there"
