I hope so too.
Starting last Wednesday you had at least one NHL game being played for the next 116 days.
Watched a little bit of the NYI/NYR game. Boy, Barzel is fun to watch. - Rota's Rooter
I watched Carolina-Detroit.
The former is a fun team to watch.
The latter is not. |

Watched some of the Wings/Hurricanes game. I actually think the Red Wings are worse than the Hawks, and i think the Hawks are really bad. - LAHawk
the wings are still the worst team in hockey. the hawks may have their issues but the wings are in worse shape. |

LTIR is accrued by day (game). So if Toews would miss 1/2 the season, Hawks would still have about $5 mil. in LTIR space. i don't know if LTIR is gross, minus escrow, or prorated for the shortened season. I don't see Stan using it so will just check puckpedia once in awhile to see what the Hawks have. - LAHawk
No. It is a flat amount. Right now the Hawks have $12M+ in unused LTIR. That number is not going to change (assuming nobody is added or taken off).

That is why I posted before that I will worry about this team if they play poorly against Detroit. To loose to TB is really not a concern today (or this season). Everyone knows the team is not at that level yet. But if they look bad against Detroit, then there are real issues.

It's so clear to me now.
$11+ mil available. DuBois at $5mil, Barkov at $5.9 mil. Squeeze into the playoffs and bring back Toews and Dach.
Stan is a frickin' genuis. - Rota's Rooter
He'll spend the whole $11 on Pannarin. |

Someone should write a book... LTIR Rules for Dummies. I would buy a copy. |

Nope. In a stroke of genius (or just a stroke), he'll bring back Saad and Ladd.
They will be on a line together which will be Baadd.

Toews, Dach and Nylander are out for the season. Other than Kane there isn’t a top six forward in the lineup. The defense, other than maybe Keith doesn’t have a top pairing defenseman. The team doesn’t have a proven goalie. What exactly are you expecting from the team? To enjoy this season I personally am looking at the growth of younger players and not how many wins the team gets. Lowering your expectations and looking for smaller more specific goals may allow you to enjoy what will very likely not be a successful season. |

I'm not trying to nitpick here, but why has Nylander kept cropping up as some notable piece that the Hawks are missing. I keep seeing "they are missing Toews, Dach, and Nylander", like he is even remotely as impactful at he two other players mentioned.
I still sort of like Nylander as a prospect, but he - very much like Boqvist - left a lot to be desired. Specifically in the bubble, he was a train wreck. I would venture to say that any one of our top three prospects, that are eligible to play right now, can bring as much if not more than he did. |

I guess I am agreeing with you.....I want the young guys to play and learn the game at the NHL level. Even with Toews, Dach in the lineup, they still are not at the level of TB. So I will enjoy the games for the enjoyment of the game.

In my opinion, he has more skill than 22 13 73 64 & 71 combined....
He just needs to go see the Wizard for:

Courage

Look, Jerky, the Hawks have been on top of the heap for awhile now. I am not willing to accept that this is no longer the case, and I'm gonna act like a bumhole until they are Cup contenders again! Don't try to stop me, Francis. And don't give me any crap about having survived the Dollar Bill Era, or I'll bust your jaw for you.
Note - the above was a takeoff of the Jerky Boys and is not to be taken literally. |

Skill not applied is not useful, or effective. All of the players you mentioned above (I'm assuming you meant 12 instead of 13?) are miles ahead of 92 in being actual effective hockey players.
It's like giving a proton NMR to someone on the street and saying "have at it". If they don't know how to use it or don't want to then it is useless. Now, this is a bit of hyperbole in that it appears that Nylander does have the desire to be a good player, but he needs to prove it every day, not just occasionally. |

You can’t call me two different names in the same paragraph. How can I self identify if I don’t know my name? Out of Jerky and Francis I prefer Jerky as that is what everyone eventually calls me. |
