I'm just hoping it was nerves for a lot of the young guys, and we see a much better compete on Sat. If this continues though with them looking like they have no system in place to defend or being soft as baby poop, the whole coaching staff should go. That was one of the more embarrassing games I have seen in awhile. This is also where I think a captain "could" help. Could you guys imagine Mess being cool with last night when he was playing.

I think we know that center ice is the biggest weakness this team has, especially when they play a team with 4 solid men down the middle
- jimbro83

It definitely is, they really need to get Dubois if he is available. They also need a system of defending in their own zone. So much running around and lost coverages

very leaky defensively

they missed Staal and Fast and they are going to have to figure out a way to get the new guys to do what those guys used to do

and I am probably the biggest proponent of those guys being gone

(frank)ing bust.

In all seriousness I thought I would see more compete from him and Miller, looked like both of them were really nervous.

I thought he was one of the only ones who put in any effort

jokes aside, the Flyers pulled the plug on a college coach after a few years and we may end up doing same thing, it could be inevitable

I flagged this by accident...off to a great start on this comment

Genuine question -- would you guys really not be OK moving Kakko for Dubois?

Young guys were def hurtin on their defensive responsibilities. Didn't help that they were irresponsible with the puck in their own end. The turn overs at the blue line made me cringe.

personally I think we have the pieces to pull it off without including Kakko, I'd rather not

Youngster on a young team. Takes time to learn to lead at this level. Like I said in previous post, the whole team was flat and no one drove play.
It will get better. It has to ...I don't know what I'll do if it doesn't

- NYRCeph

Yeah, it was such a complete failure. One thing I cant figure is Quinn likes a in your face style and I can't even remember more than 2 hits last night. Panarin's hip check and Trouba hitting someone. Isles had all the time in the world to make passes and skate around, its like they knew they were just going to be stick checked and didn't have to rush anything. Was like a cat playing with a half dead mouse

Speaking of those guys, really liked Fast last night.

They're using him on a line with J.Staal and Foegele. Real bastard of a line to play against. It was cool.

Marc Staal is washed. Dude looked like he had no interest in being there in Detroit by the time the third period hit.

I can just see them handing the reigns over to Martin though, not sure I want him either

Straight up, one-for-one...I think I might. If we had to add to Kakko, probably not.

Yeah I could live with the defensive lapses, but the offense has to help out a lot more with such a young d core

Gauthier is pretty much playing the role that Fast was and he was very encouraging last night, one of few encouraging Rangers

but he's probably the primary reason the Rangers didnt want to go 3 years to keep Fast, to give him a shot

Either one would be fantastic. If they could have Zib - Dubois/Barkov - Chytil or Strome as the 3rd center I would like that.

somebody making 5 million has to go to Columbus if we acquired Dubois, so basically its either Strome or Tony D as part of the proposed package

I really don't want to. I would love to find a way to do a trade that didn't involve him even if that involved multiple 1sts.

Glad to see that. Brind'amour just didn't trust Gauthier for whatever reason but I still love the kid and think he can pop in 15~ goals over a full season in a third line role.
