It's a big issue and the only 2 guys that are any good on draws are Mika and Howden. Chytil and Strome are god awful.
- JRR1285

yeah its just one game blah blah blah blah

but every one game - chytil does more and more to show (at least to me) that he is not a center. he can be a very skilled wing - but we have 500 of them.

his positioning is below average, distribution is ok b/c he's so talented, and his faceoff ability complete dogpoop

Great, he shows up for the one thing that isn't his job.
- JRR1285

He is gonna be the faceoff and penalty killing specialist

Exactly. So what will we do, shift the lines around every time we have a defensive draw and then switch them back so players can play their natural position. Recipe for success. We need a solution to this madness.

It may come down to be willing to include Kakko in the deal
- TPC

Ive already said Id be willing to trade Kakko. We would be trading a position of relative strength for a ridiculously important position of desperate need.

Last night Chytil was 1-6 on faceoffs and they were sending out Howden to take draws for him in defensive zone.

FYI, Dubois was 12-7 on faceoffs last night for a Columbus.

Who cares, faceoffs arent that important. Chytil is only 20, hes so talented.

I felt like the Rangers never had the puck last night

after last night - and envisioning 7 more games of being blitzed up the middle & at the dots - they have to take a serious run at PLD

i'd rather not trade kakko, though im far from impressed, throw multiple 1's instead.

no no way, but this is a problem if they need to send out Howden to take defensive draws for him and then replace him mid shift, this is not sustainable

forget about it when they are on the road and cant control the matchups

Don't disagree, but it seems like everyone who has their player who they don't like will blame that individual when in reality every (frank)ing Ranger sucked ass last night. From top to bottom. No compete, no grit, no anything. They (frank)ing mailed it in.

lol lord above

the guy is awful at faceoffs. - somehow worse than strome. it's all were really talking about right now. he actually stood out to me more so than like 90% of the other forwards last night - looked engaged and all that poop

Exactly. It's impossible to say any one player was to blame. That's exactly why this game is a reflection of Quinn than anything else.

I mentioned it last night, but does anyone have any info on how Quinn's teams have done on opening night during his career? I'm guessing not great...

Not making excuses but that whole opening ceremony was enough to put you to sleep. I know they needed to do it but......it was pretty awful with no crowd

Was watching on NHLN out in CO and was wondering why the game was taking forever to start. Glad i missed that as it sounds awful.

I would have thought that we'd see some kind of changes in the systems. Zone entries were trash. They telegraphed the cross ice pass in the offensive zone so many times. Back check was lackluster, too many coasters.

I did notice the wingers supporting the defense in the defensive zone more than last year. One play that stands out was Kakko came down to the half boards and stick checked an Islander. Probably the only positive in Kakko's game last night, but safe to say this is a Jacques Martin change

(frank)ing bust.

In all seriousness I thought I would see more compete from him and Miller, looked like both of them were really nervous.

Fair enough. It just seems like certain players get singled out when they lose and it always the same players.

Youngster on a young team. Takes time to learn to lead at this level. Like I said in previous post, the whole team was flat and no one drove play.
It will get better. It has to ...I don't know what I'll do if it doesn't

I think we know that center ice is the biggest weakness this team has, especially when they play a team with 4 solid men down the middle
