Yeah, with the condensed schedule this could get away from them fast.

Oh yeah, when I think about the elite talent in the league, those are the names that spring to mind.
Not trying to say they aren't skilled. But, they aren't what I would call players who define the team as "high-skill" either. The original point was that the Islanders play more of a blue-collar, hard work, team first style of hockey. This simple observation set off the original responder. There is no reason it should have. It's not a criticism.

The Isles have also had minimal roster turnover unlike the Rangers. It's going to take a few games to gel.

I need to redo it because the quality sucks but it gets the job done.

Yea. Like some other people said. Islanders played their system and limited mistakes. So they did outplay the Rangers because the Rangers played poopy caca.
- NYRCeph

Yep. Watching the Oilers and Canucks on Wed. night, the Oilers made 3 horrible, unforgivable defensive plays that cost them and stole momentum from anything they might have been building in the game.
That effort was about 4 notches above what the Rangers showed us last night. We simply had no cohesive play or will to compete. It looked like a summer skate for us.

I disagree.
I think our excuses are justified. It was the team's effort that was BS. And, I am in the camp of yes, the Isles did dominate. Not sure how you can call it anything else when they were the only team on the ice that had a chance of winning the game.

I guess every fanbase has their Bruceflyers, QuickSCF etc. But the Isles have like 4-5 of you on here.

the faceoff issue will continue to spiral this season, and while a lot of idiots on twitter throw it under the rug and focus on 27 and other poop - take the first PP last night for example, and even the isles first PP.

isles first PP - faceoff win, lucky-ish bounce results in a goal.

reangers first pp - chytil beat clean as could be, pucks down the other end and 20ish seconds are gone. rangers have a tough time gettign back in the zone and then another stoppage. another faceoff loss clean and the puck is down to shesty.

basically cut the pp in half b/c we cant win a (frank)ing draw - down 2-0 and then to have a no shot PP there was no coming back.

I just answered the question that was asked.

Outside of Barzal and Eberle, who on your roster ISN’T a hard-nosed, gritty style of player?
- Tonybere

None of the players I listed fit a "hard-nosed, gritty style". I didn't see "high-skill" in the question either.

It's a big issue and the only 2 guys that are any good on draws are Mika and Howden. Chytil and Strome are god awful.
