Ok, so to start, Suzuki for PLD? Hard pass, straight up even.
I'd counter with Danault (I'd prefer he stay, BUT...), Lehkonen, Caulfield, and a conditional 1st. (1st becomes a 3rd if Danault re-signs with CLB.) If it needs another piece, offer Poehling.
Lehkonen and Danault are exactly what Torts loves. Hard working, not flashy. And with Caulfield possibly being a project anyways, gives them a nice piece for their cupboard.
Insert PLB in Danault's spot, bring up Perry to take Byron's spot, put Byron where Lehkonen was.

If I'm CLB I'd probably say no to your proposal, but hey if MB makes that happen it sure would be an awesome deal
I think it's pretty much a consensus concerning Suzuki, everyone agrees he's a keeper, and Bergevin most likely does as well |

Oh, I know, but if I had to give up, say, KK? The deal would look more like:
KK, Byron, Caulfield, 1st 2022
for
PLB, Kirill Marchenko, 2022 2nd and 3rd |

yeah this makes more sense, as I'd also be more reluctant to get rid of KK... but as for your first proposal, if MB somehow makes it happen and gets to keep him, the idea of having Dubois, Suzuki and KK as your centers sounds like a damn good one

I can see it now, MB trades KK+ for PLB, and Habs fans react...

BUT...
We're all saved when mr.peanut denies the trade because it involved too many players/management known by initials. |

Good thing you specified Peanut, or I'd think you'd meant Kessel. |

saving some capspace everytime they'll do it. that's why they kept a spot open on the taxi squad.
pretty sure Evans receives his full salary though. it just doesn't count againts the cap. |

Remember the rumor about Domi for Laine? Then the year after Domi wasn’t worth much?
Well, PLD makes this team TOTALLY better. He’s a big man with skills à la Kopitar. I’d take a 6’3, 218lbs with skills anytime. He’s also a Playoff performer.
In my mind, Bergevin is pretty close to this situation since he wanted to draft him in 2016. I doubt Suzuki is part of it but PLD still would be the best C for a long time. Also PLD can play winger. |

They won’t be totally better if Suzuki goes the other way. Their line was the best on the ice Wednesday and it would be hazardous to break that chemistry.
KK, Lekhonen and Caufield would be my offer. I like KK but having Dubois would be an upgrade. I could definitely see a Tatar-PLD-Toffoli line leaving the 3rd for Byron-Danault-Gallagher 👌 |

It would mean some salary going the other way, because right now Habs can't afford Dubois' salary under the cap

Isn’t KK cap hit of 2,5M$ despite his 925K$ salary? Don’t remember the clause for top 5 picks...
Because Lek is 2,4. So both would amount PLD cap hit. |

One of Danault or Byron and throw in Kulak and you get there. But for that poop sandwich you'd have to throw in some nice picks and prospects. Maybe Danault, Kulak, Mete, Caufield and a top 5 protected 1st? Still probably doesn't get it done but who knows. In this scenario I'd rather have a dollar than five quarters if that makes sense |

Bonus isn't a cap hit until earned on ELC's. McDavid earns all those bonuses, Kotkaniemi, well, not yet at least |
