Sure he could impact the game like those playoffs, but was he really the best dmen in the league, no.

He was good offensively, but poor defensively. I just find his status overrated, not that he was some Marincin level player or something

Overrated doesnt mean he was bad, just not as good as the propped him up to be.

The team allowed more goals when he wasn't on the ice. He was dominant. I've never seen even Lidstrom carry his team like that in the playoffs.

Karlsson was a great player and MVP for the Sens.
Rather have a prime Karlsson on my team than a prime Doughty. (people that say that Karlsson is very weak on D, haven't paid attention to Doughty's one on one flaws).

Doughty look slike poop without lots of help. He's not as good as Karlson was in his prime.

Yep, not surprising. They should have overpaid more honestly. Well see hopefully they go after Springer, but with the Meta invovled I doubt it.

Mets are getting close to their top number..they want to stay 10 or so mil under the lux tax (if you believe that)

Mets close to agreement with free-agent reliever Brad Hand, source tells The Athletic.

Jays could sign Springer. Bauer and realmuto and still have a lower payroll than the yanks or dodgers

Springer’s contract will not age well. I would give Brantley 3 yrs instead at way cheaper.

Hand should have been the left handed reliever we signed😡

Kluber and Paxton please. Kluber would be a great mentor to Pearson

Disagree. Doughty was better then Karlsson easily. Much more well rounded player. Karlsson isnt looking great without good players in the team either, not sure why comparing them both now makes sense.

Niether was worth 11M per year however.

I disagree, I think hell age just fine. You dont win with secondary talent in baseball. Its not quite as bad as the NBA, but its close.

Karlsson with 32 minutes and -2 last game. Never been the same since he hurt his achilles tendon.

I can understand the feeling.

Now I'm no professional athlete, but I have ripped my achilles tendon twice in the last 10 years.

Let me tell you, running at full speed just doesn't feel the same anymore.

Springer is probably in the top 3/4/5 C in all MLB, (Mike Petriello has him #3)
I am not worried about the costs...get the best now. Springer and a SP Pitcher are a must imo

Maybe Hand hasnt decided yet..seeing conflicting reports

I am thinking Gurriel will have better stats (and better defender) than Springer at a fraction of the costs in the very near future. His stats are barely above Grichuk.
14/32 265 vs 12/35 273

Karlsson looked great carrying a meh team to game 7 of the conf. finals. He;s simply not the same.

I really hate the "well rounded" argument. That's like people who argue a two way game of a 40 point centre is better than a superstar. Karllson had a bigger impacta nd was more talented.

I understand. I have 2 friends that have gone through it over the years. I predicted Karlsson would be a bad deal.... Unfortunately, I think I was correct.

Is someone saying different?
I guess you could debate it...

Personally, I don’t think it’s close.

Jays. Always a bridesmaid.
All the hype around the Jays this off season and theyve done nothing.

I love that the first goal of the season was Willy, scoring from the perimeter.

Tonight, 8-0 Leafs, Matthews hat trick, Marner 2, Spezza, Hyman, Rielly
