I have this fear that agents are just using the Jays to drive up prices, but the players have little desire to play in Canada, and less with COVID going on for the rest of the year.
- Monkeypunk

Maybe, but the Jays have to be intriguing. They have a good up and coming team and need a few high end pieces to push them into contention.

I thought you were referring to Nylander (misread it as 'playing as 4th best forward') and completely agreed with you there

I saw him back check last game and break up a play close to our net. Heโ€™s starting to get what defense means. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Does anyone have any experience with stalkers/creeps?

I have one who won't get over me.

It's amazing all the people who failed to see the long lineup of people who aligned with Trump and got (frank)ed over. It's truly astounding. It's like being the hundredth person to put your hand in a wood chipper.

Brunt who has written about Orr was surprised by the move, not because of Orrโ€™s politics but because he had always been so careful of his reputation, never doing anything controversial.

I'm pretty sure this is why the Leafs can't get a shut out. They need the other team to score to remind them that there's a game going on.

Otherwise we'd just lose in the shoot out.

Does anyone outside of Babcock/DET organization speak as highly about Lidstrom?

Maybe we should bet?

Next 3 years total.... Gurriel vs Springer

Sorry, but I still value batting average and RBI

- mr.sir

its like saying I prefer Bozak to Tavares

BA is pretty useless if you can have a player who is batting .300 who had 3 singles in 10 at bats

but you have another player batting .125 who had 1 single and 2 walks...they accomplished the same thing by getting on 1st 3 times. just use OBP its at least much better to start with.

Grichuk is a career .295 OBP and Springer is .361
over 600 at bats thats 177 to 216 times on base

I would think that there's appeal on that level, but if you're an agent pushing superstars, I imagine that you're looking for teams that offer year-over-year financial stability and playoff potential - LA, New York, Boston, SF . . .obviously depth changes a team's approach and luxury tax considerations come into play, but the markets who prove a desire to spend year-over-year give a player more comfort of building a life and a legacy. Being a team that builds and tears down and builds and tears down would be less of a draw unless you're offering (a) tax incentives, or (b) lifestyle, or (c) more money / term.

Obviously, I look at the Jays and think it would be a good place to play, but think of the guys who played here recently (Price, Tulo, Donaldson) who didn't want to come to Canada, and wouldn't have given the choice, but liked it once here. That attitude is very likely prevalent.
