I 1000% agree and have said that I expect him to be a flyer by years end. Soon as he wins a title with that stacked Michigan team. Yandle is a good vet. Good player. And still averaged 20 a night. He'd be a nice third pairing guy to have. But again that sets a bad precedent if you traded gus right after you signed him

Not for a 6.5M cap hit the next 3 years.

Not to be over optimistic but he could be the next Cale Makar.
- MJL

Hmm... would be cool if it happened, but I'm not sure York is really at that level.

The flyers will have to deal with teams activating their D on a regular basis, much like the islanders did in the playoff series. Flyers have a plodding skater on every line except for line 4. They’ll be forced to prove that they can consistently sting on a counter attack/turnover.

Braun is really going to be a liability on the top pair.

I don't think he stays there.

Weird rumor with the Yandle fallout. Got told to stay home basically. Never heard of him being anything but a consumate professional and he played well last year.
- Tfaehner

Yandle and Hayes comedy road show would be hilarious.... but that cap hit, that term, that age. Not to mention they already have two Yandles in Ghost and Gus.

I'm not sure but thought he only had this year and next. And rumor was panthers willing to retain 50%.

Id argue hes better defensively than gus. And more consistent than ghost. Which ghost do we have this year ? And his leadership and locker room presence is well renowned. 50% retained makes it 3.15 million Im not in favor of it per say just trying to explore the merits of it before dismissing it.

Flyers have York in the pipeline who may be ready to play after the NCAA season. Not to be over optimistic but he could be the next Cale Makar.
- MJL

I highly doubt he’s close to Makar, he’s not nearly as dynamic

I'm sure Florida would love to trade Yandle for Ghost at even money, bring that Florida boy back home.

For the Flyers tho, it doesn't make sense (unless you're sure he can fill Niskanen's spot AND you'll be able to get rid of him before the expansion draft or he doesn't insist a trade is contingent on the Flyers accepting his NMC).

He always looked like an amalgam of Carle and Kimmo to me.

I suppose he could agree to waive it and simply be exposed in the Seattle draft.

Issue with JVR and Jake is that our top 2 lines are solid and will continue to gel. 4th line is solid in it's role. Neither Jake or JVR should move down in the line up. They can't move up either because it would hurt the chemistry of the top 2 lines. Provy will be getting a lot of time playing when line 3 is on the ice.

When Ghost returns, he will slot in on top pair. It will be interesting to see what coaches saw in camp. Ghost and Gus in same line up concerns me. Thank God we have Cahta Haht.

I'm not sure either and I truly don't know. I'm just making a point admittedly with some exaggeration.

I wish everyone would just slow their roll over the lines until we see how it goes after 5 or 6 games.

Yesterday I made a number of comments in game that there were elements of the Flyers play that I did not like. While I still think those thoughts were accurate, in thinking about it, I came to the conclusion that I should slow my role on that. Shortened camp and no exhibition games. Can't expect complete cohesiveness in all aspects of play. Give it 10-12 games and see where they're at.

Plus wouldn’t we have to protect him for expansion?

That is my thought as well. First real game of the season. Patrick's first game in forever. We have to give it some time here, especially with that 3rd line. Its nice that the other three lines played well enough to give them the cover they need to find their game.

I don’t know why I don’t see the Kimmo thing, I see Carle though. Maybe a little more offenseive than Carle. Carle would quietly have 30+ points each year tho.

If he has a NMC yes. Unless it's been changed, in the CBA, when a player is traded, movement clauses are voided. However a player with a NMC can request that his clause is retained in order to agree to accept a trade.

While he was never a good goal scorer, many people did not realize that Carle was elite offensively in 5 on 5 play.

Very smooth, moved the puck around efficiently, nothing flashy

If York matched Carle in his prime with the Flyers, I would be very pleased.

A lot better defensively than carle. Imo. And if York comes up this year I expect AV to have him be defensively responsible first. Probably playing third pairing. Even guys who qb'd pp at lower levels like sanheim haven't seen the same time in the NHL until they got their regular game right. Which York can do quickly.

In the current climate, I am not sure Yandle would get any team to do that.
