Just rewatched the second game again. Eichel out of shape I think. I don’t believe he trained like the MacKinnons and McDavid’s of the league did
- lulags

He came into camp hurt .... he said he got hurt a month ago.

So yes, he’s out of shape. He’s also been away from game speed for 10 months

Normally, you want the best players on the top line. One of our best players is on the 4th line and it makes no sense. I have yet to comment on Ralph since he was hired, and I'm breaking my silence today. Skinner on the 4th line is basically ridiculous. Ralph has made us look like idiots to the rest of the league. I'm not calling for the firing of Ralph, but he really needs to stop the baseless nonsense with Skinner. It's like putting Ovechkin on the 4th line.

I wonder if he's a little banged up. I think it was the first game. I remember him getting nailed as he was breaking out of the zone. He almost got to the blueline, got wacked, his stick went flying, he looked hurt, and he yelled something (Since there was no screaming/yelling crowd, you could hear him yell something just after the hit - probably the F word) and he went to the bench. I remember thinking "oh damn...hope he didn't get hit in the head there".

Yeah, it’s got to be a combo of that and lack of play for 10 months. He does not have the same fire in his game he had last year. For that matter, Dahlin is lacking serious intensity first 2 games. It’s early, I get it,
But I expected a couple of people to shine who didn’t.

Yeah, I remember the upper body report on the wire. I hope he gets healthy and rolling soon because the whole team feeds of of his intensity or lack there of for what ever reason.

It's just amazing how little the forwards have done 5 on 5, and the solution is right in front of him

Had that feeling after the first period of the first game. Looked gassed. Not a good sign.

Maybe him and Casey eating too many snickers and playing COD warzone

Well hes just taking the example of the coach. Take the first few games off

Superstar that had 10 months off, paid 10mil a year, and captain. He have upper body injury of 10 months?

Obviously im sick of the excuses. Its just reminds me of pegulaville after a defensive team loses in a playoff game

Ummm. If he’s been hurt for about a month and couldn’t fully skate, lift / train, etc. yeah, that matters.

It’s like that for any professional athlete.

During the last months of training .... a player usually ramps up. Eichel couldn’t do that

Players or any person working out / training for something doesn’t go 100% all out for every single gym / lift session.

Pierre-Luc Dubois got one :36 shift in the final seven minutes of the second.

Nash took at least one shift with Grigorenko and Bemstrom, who appears to have replaced Bjorkstrand at RW on the new Dubois/Nash line.

Nash double shifted and also skated with Robinson/Foudy.

Swap him and Skinner if this is how it's going to go...(yes I know it's not going to work like that) but oh my god

You should hope that is the case as the Bills had a top 10 defence this year in DVOA.

I’d also think that if the Saints would have given Brees the defence he had this year they probably would have another super bowl or 2 last decade when Brees was the third ranked passer of the decade but couldn’t win because he had the lowest special teams/defensive supporting cast across his career of all “elite QB’s they averaged 19.6 so approximately 20th ranked defence and special teams across his career)

Imagine how many more playoff games Brees would have won if he could go out and score one offensive touchdown like your bills did last week.

One of the best QB’s of all time and Brees finished with a 10-10 playoff record.

Might've been difficult to put together given the restrictions within divisions, but agreed. 4 days of practice was superfluous. Need a few games before playing the playoff teams that got to play a few months ago vs almost a year ago. Good thought.

Right so having elite QB’s amounted to no super bowl rings for the Packers or the Saints the last decade.

Over Brady’s entire career in New England his teams averaged the 9th ranked defence and special teams units.

Out of Manning, Rodgers, Brees the best supporting cast out of the 3 of them had the 17th. Best defence and special teams units.

Flacco had the benefit of the 3rd ranked defence and special teams units. Meaning over the course of his career in Baltimore they ranked top 3 in defence and special teams pretty much every season, which is absurd and can probably never be repeated again, but he won a super bowl in a decade where Brees and Rodgers did not and will retire with a playoff record of 10-5 which is one of the best playoff winning percentages of all time.

for every super bowl win by a flaco, foles, brad johnson or dilfer

there is 4 wins by a brady, wilson, big ben, manning, brees, rodgers etc

there is only 5 to 10 elite qb's at a given time and the odds that one of those are holding the lombardi trophy at the end of the year is pretty good

three of the top 4 qb rated passes this year are still playing and brady was 9th on the list

green bay was 8th in rushing yards per game
kc was 16th
buffalo was 20th
tampa was 28th

as for defense in yards per game
tampa 6th
green bay 9th
bills 14th
kc 16th

I agree, but alot of people wanted to blame it on eichel's playing time (3rd most) 10 seconds behind risto.

Looked gassed. MacKinnon and McDavid look unstoppable

Flacco - you had the saints winning the superbowl because they had the rest running game / defense combo.

Still think the saints win yesterday?

Bill's rush for 32 yards, off to kc ....

*First time EVER the final 4 qb's all thru for 4,000 in the regular season.

The idea that Brees or Rodgers, who both have SB’s and have been to multiple conference championships with totally different defenses, supporting cast, and coaches aren’t reason #1 for their teams successes is just an absolutely bonkers opinion

Right, and Big Ben in 2005 and Russell Wilson in 2013 you could lump in the Flacco category.

And Rodgers and Brees have any many rings as Dilfer, Johnson, et al.

Brady is the unicorn because the Patriots were always able to put out elite defences more often than not.

In Brady’s best passing seasons actually he didn’t win.

The Pats defence was awful and the reason why they couldn’t beat the Eagles.

And look now he’s in Tampa with another high end defence.
