This goes for the entire team, right Ralph...?

Ralph Krueger: "Jeff showed us a level today that we need to hold as an expectation every night and then we'll see how it evolves. ... Jeff is a scorer and always a scoring threat. We'd like to see him ignite soon."

The Sabres honestly didn’t play a bad game last night.

Risto was engaged. Skinner was engaged.

Makes sense because we haven’t heard a peep out of them while coaches have been getting snatched up left and right

The Sabres have given up 9 total high danger chances in 2 games (that’s excellent) and 8 goals.

The bills have shown all year they can’t stop the run. I just don’t magically see them turning on their run defense.

That’s why I didn’t want the titans

- Sabretooth9

they held jacobs to 48 yards on 15 carries
henry to 57 yards on 19 carries
ekeler to 44 yards on 14 carries
the entire 49er team to 86 yards
conner got 18 yards on 10 carries

for every bad game, it's easy to find a game where they were decent against the run

it makes so much sense to flip olofsson or skinner to rw and have those 2 with reinhart and hall as your top 4 wingers

both olofsson and skinner have played rw in the past

mind boggling

"Evan Rodrigues cannot play on the top line, but we already knew that going in. If you are going to be mad at somebody Rodrigues isn’t the person to be upset at. Mike Sullivan has to own this decision because not only is he putting Rodrigues way above his pay grade, Rodrigues is also leading all forwards in ice time this year. Yes, you read that correctly. I personally think you are asking a lot of Rodrigues to have a regular third line role let alone a first. The only reason he played the top line with Buffalo for a little while is because he was Eichel’s linemate at Boston University. Rodrigues is a fine fourth line player. He’s being put in a position to fail on a team with minimal options at the moment. Bad situation all around."

Nearly every coach loves over thinking things when the simple thing is the smartest idea. Ralph is no exception.

I just realized the Sabres can run Skinner-Eichel-Reinhart and still have a Hall-Staal-whoever 2nd line. Just do that

Yeah the last part of the year they were pretty good against the run. Hopefully the D that played the last 5 or 6 games of the year shows up and not last weeks.

It's simple, teams that can only run, the Bills have done a good job against.

It's teams that have a balanced offense where the Bills have struggled against.

Teams that can throw and pass have given the Bills issues (Titans, Colts)

This is going to be a close game

Really thought Dahlin would be hitting his groove right know, looks like he's skating on wet cement, and he falls a lot. Think he's taken over that gig for Girgensons.

Very well could be, Baltimore's defense is no joke. I do believe if are Oline can hold up to the blitzing and why Yeldon could see some time being a very good blocker, Allen could do some damage, they can't cover all are weapons.

They are improving. I agree dahlin and Miller and the Pp sucked.

Give it time though. It’s been 2 games. We saw a good jump from the 1st to 2nd game.

That’s fair. I’ll give you that. I still don’t trust our run defense. Jonathan Taylor killed us last week

Agree with that, but if they don't get better goaltending it won't matter.

If we do that to Lamar we win.

You also forgot about how Hines

6 carries 75 yards too

Totally agree that the goaltending needs to not only be better but more consistent. This team also needs to cut down on high danger chances that are of a high quality and I mean all alone untouched.
When you look at these 2 games the the high quality chances the sabres had were rushed or diminished by someone close defensively. The Caps had at least 4 breakaways over the 2 games and scoring chances where their player could have stopped for coffee and still got a shot off.
Goalies can be better but play some defence man for such a defensive system.

They had 3 big runs, all in the 4th Qtr which constituted 80sh yards. Yes, those could have killed us, but to say the running game killed the Bill's is a bit of a stretch IMO. River's passing was far more of a threat all game.

We'll agree to disagree on that.
Yes to slowing down Jackson's running is certainly a big key.
