So who won the Avs/Sabres ROR trade where the best peice the Avs got is JT Compher?

Where are the Avs? In forever purgatory or probably the best team in hockey?

Remember when they traded Matt Duchene?

The pick he was traded for is Bowen Byram who at 19 just played 25 minutes for them last night

- sbroads24

I’m just cool with 25th place forever. At least it’s not 31st.

Stop, Eichel is no savior and this team will still survive without him, stop acting like the world will come to an end if they move him.
- SABRES 89

While I agree that jack can be traded and the team would certainly survive and possibly benefit... I have ZERO faith in this managerial team pulling that off.

If they bring in a REAL president and gm and they take the swing at trading jack so be it. Let’s see what they can do.

If pegs/ adams/ Ralph are trading jack for rebuild 7.0, the team will be proper franked for another decade.

Seriously, what’s the difference? I’m not saying trade him now but to act like they absolutely cannot is blindly incorrect.

Oh joy!

I'll take a Thompson, two Girgensons and a Mittlestadt. No ice in my Nylander, please

You might be correct but the team is as of now proper (frank)ed for a decade anyways.

How many years do we wanna do this -not the worst- but nowhere near good enough - for?

This year is going to be another pick in the 6-10 range

Next year?

It’s a horrible example considering another team traded him and got better

Also, 6-10 might be optimistic. Top 5 is well within range.

Correct. So let the owners keep cheaping out on a proper management structure and expect different results?

Yes you can learn from the past, this team really never does. We sucked with ROR, you know what this year would have been the year to trade for him, not when this team was going through a bloodletting and trading 1st and prospects like they were chicklets.

you're not going to get a VP of hockey ops or a president, not with Pegula in charge.

There is no question about it that they have to move Skinner and add a sweetener to do it, it has to be done.

Different issue. Even if they change it from top to bottom, is a cup parade going to come to buffalo by the end of eichels contract? If no, almost assuredly no, make the move now and get a max return. It sucks, I agree.

You're advocating for the same flawed logic that saw us get Tage Thompson and Vlad Sobotka for ROR.

It was a terrible idea then, and it's a terrible idea now.

Maybe in 5 years you can tell us we should trade Spencer Fisher who has 80 points in 82 games because we never retain talent and the rest of the team sucks and we're bottom-10 still

Then you have to get the soccer guy from behind the bench and put him next to pegs in the owner suite. It’s the only move if pegs isn’t going to own his shortcomings.

I do hear ya
But the good thing in our favor if we decide to trade Jack is that we won’t have a timeline that hinders the return we’d get

This is assuming we don’t rush into a bad deal,
of course
