Olo has the specialized skill: a great, elite shot. Any of them can make those passes in the top 6 group + Risto and Rasmus. Any of them.
- lacaprup

And yet his “great, elite” shot is only useful when other skilled guys get him wide open looks that most NHL players would bury.

Olofsson is good on the PP, but it’s not like he’s Ovechkin or Matthews burying ridiculous shots. They are wide open looks

Eric Staal and Cody Eakin are bigger problems than Olofsson.

For $3M to have an elite PP specialist is not bad, and far from the worst value in terms of cap hits on the team.

Sure. Agreed.

However he’s playing elite minutes

Played 20:02 last night

The coach doesn’t think he’s a PP specialist

And gets absolutely robbed on half of them cause his shot isn't accurate. But whos is on this team? maybe we start kicking the puck around probably get more goals playing it like soccer

Like I said, I can live with Olo being the power play specialist who scores the goals. I can't live with Jack being the power play specialist who gets the assists.

I have different expectations for the two players.

I agree with this, but I disagree that Olofsson is driving the PP.

He’s the beneficiary- which is totally fine, but if he was expected to handle the puck constantly on the PP we might have a different story.

In my first post of today's bashing on Jack I said he can end it quite quickly by dominating a game or several games.

Anybody confident that's going to happen?

If you're not confident that's going to happen then why do you consider him a superstar?

He's drawing the defense to him which leaves Olo wide open

change.org petition? i'd bet we can get 20K+ plus signatures if any amount of effort was put in.
if we really buckled down and tried... easily 100k + signatures and a brief 15 minutes of fame for one of us.

How are the panthers and lightning doing? 😉
- Boss34

The Panthers are proving your theory that the Sabres would be better with more grit and toughness in the lineup. Two of the biggest reasons for their strong start is the addition of Hornqvist and Gudas. Hornqvist’s hard nosed style and Gudas making the Dzone uncomfortable for opposing forwards https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4vvKckvo60 is only the start. The whole team is following that lead and playing harder and with more intensity. They are fun to watch

I honestly have no clue. I know it exists. That's it. This right here is the most social media I participate in. Quit fb in 2016 and never looked back. Never tried anything else.

It's not nearly that simple. Someone else literally has to create the time and space for his shot.

The first is true. Like Parcels said; You are what your record says you are. Olo has difficulty scoring unless he's on the PP. I do like watching him bury those on the PP though.

At what point, how many games in would you then agree to it? 82, 125, 150?

- IonSabres

I'd say after 2 years , I would like to see the "real" player.
Next year for sure, so 125ish is fair.

Had high expectations for dahlin this season despite being one of the under impressed posters around here.
3rd year guy.
Lo'ts of points and breaking teenage records ect.
Lots of soft , clueless, somewhat non chalant play IMO.

I love olofsson's shot. Should really have a few more goals and points this season. In person, he is really fast and an underappreciated passes.

Yes, everyone sets him up for goals, but it says something about finding soft spots on the ice.
Hopefully he can find those spots 5 x 5.
I think it's a human nature thing, good feel for his surroundings. Guessing he can learn a bit?

Also, I agree that being already mid 20's , his ceiling might not be that of a 20 year old 2nd year guy.

Maybe not though, guys has a pure wicked shot and decent speed.

You know who I mentioned before, who he reminds me of. Guy lives near you 🤔

Late bloomer , later pick. Similar size, it's the speed and shot for me.

Completely opposite aggressive behavior though.

Let me check the standings..brb...

Wow, both are doing great ... Bolts have poured in 54 G's, Panthers 44 G's and are 1st and 2nd in a very tight, exciting division. They are really, really fun to watch.

By this time next week, Sabres should have amassed 32 or 33 G's and only be 12 pts out of PO's.

They are a complete and utter joke of an organization from top to bottom.

The coach is the only guy in the building who can't understand that his system is literally destroying the careers of his players. These are gifted offensive powerhouses who he has turned into 13 Girgensons.
I always wondered what a team full of Girgensons / Larssons types would look like, lol.

- IonSabres

This is hilarious 😀

I've also wondered what a team full of girgensons looked like 🤔

You know they miss him. Over paid or not.

Umm, when have i implied anything else? Olo is still doing the hardest part. The guy screening (Risto for example) is doing the next hardest part. The movement of the puck is done by all (including Olo) to finally get Olo open.

You're acting like our PP is Jack entering the zone, dancing with the puck to draw two men, and then feeding Olo for an empty netter. Sorry. Olo is far more important to the PP success this year than Jack. Risto is #2. Jack is guy who who throws a nice pass and collects assists thanks to Olo and Risto.

I think what both Eichel and Olofsson do on the PP benefits each other.

Sure he gets open looks but he has to bury them.

Olofsson also has some nice PP assists as well.

Both do their jobs admirably on the man advantage.

Eichel and Olofsson’s play on the man advantage is one of the few things this team has going for them right now

Yes,

Skimmer at 9 million forever and 1 point
Okposo at 6 million and not even trying
Hall with 1 goal in 5 minutes / 0 in 800 minutes since
Joker looking like an ahl defenseman
Sam getting absolutely nothing done without eichel

These bother me more.

I also agree with goals are goals 👊

Your just a dumb troll lol gtfo of here, you do realize every time the pucks in the neutral zone the player with the puck(if it isn't Eichel) is trying to find Eichel. He's literally the reason this team hasn't dissipated in the last 2 years.

While true, that isn't the argument.
The discussion is about his lack of effectiveness at EV.
