His coaching style too. After being a hardass, no-nonsense guy in Buffalo, he admitted he basically had to reinvent himself as a softer edged guy in Dallas.

Maybe that's why he's still around, while others from that era have fallen by the wayside. I stopped following obviously once he left, but I always thought he had a good mind for the sport anyways.

The hawks need to rebuild, they need to shed Towes and Kane. 21 million for the next 3 years combined, they are both 32. IMO they should trade them both for a shat load of picks and young prospects.

For what it's worth, I hope that he comes home.

Yeah, it may have been after his first year in Dallas. I remember him saying the way he coached wasn't relating to modern players. It's interesting to listen to his number one whipping boy, Vanek, talk about how much he appreciated what hard ass Lindy did for him though

Hall is like the anti buffalo

As in lately buffalo starts the seasons hot and cools down

Hall usually starts the season luke warm and heats up

If he catches fire early with eichel it could be scary for other teams

Sabres fans are lucky to have you

And while I'm a Jets fan, save me the grief, I hope the bills do well

This Sabres lineup looks incredibly soft from top to bottom. So many things need to go right and click. The defense as a whole looks very suspect (young and too many mobile/non-defensive style players). I think goaltending will surprise (expecting Ullmark to take next step). I have a sneaking suspicion that Reider (Ralphs crush) will see time in the top 6 and sabres fans will hate him. We need big years from very young players and will need to improve our offense drastically to overcome the lack of quality defense/goaltending and non existent physical game (beyond Risto/Mccabe).

Bounce back years needed from: Skinner, Miller, Hutton
Big jumps needed from: Thompson, Jokiharju, Dahlin, Montour, Ullmark
Need to not completely suck: Eakin, Cozens, Okposo, Sheahan, Lazar, Reider
Would like to see take a big jump: Mittelstadt

I think Stall will take time to acclimate and could have slower start.

With all this said, I am very excited for the season.

If skinner could score 40 with Jack Hall can put up 50 (82 game pace)

Good post.

While they're not a physical lineup, per se, they're a LOT bigger lineup this year, and that could pay dividends. Staal, Cozens, Thompson and Sheahan are all 6'3" or bigger, and I think that helps.

That being said, I think the strength of the opposition in their division is what keeps them out of the playoffs yet again.

I think they have a shot. I am actually pretty high on Thompson and if he stays with Eichel, I think 20 goals is doable. His shot is tremendous.

Kane has and will always have a ton of value. Toews is a different story. We've seen people that play his style of game completely fall off a cliff at that age. He makes way too much to take on even for free.

I've actually been thinking the opposite. I think we've got the most talent that we've had in 10 years. I think the bigger questions are 1) Will it come together and 2) do we have the right coach.

Hall is more a playmaker than a scorer and Skinner is definitely a scorer when he is on

me too... Ill would have zero problem giving Hawks my #1, Mittle-shat, Tage, and any other prospect they wanted for Kane and they retain 3 mil.

Could you imagine an Eichel, Kane, Hall line.

630 tonight for covid testing

They sent the email to my kid , so we missed out on all the Wednesday testing

Cousin tested yesterday and failed, he took it down town again today , hoping it's a false negative 🤞

Grabbed pods pretty close together

The current nhl .... you don’t need to be the big bad Bruins and beat people up.

It’s more about speed and skill.

In playoffs. Those speed and skill guys need to buy into playoff hockey and hit. See Tampa
