I thought he looked pretty good too

He's different. Looks like a pretty sound defensive player with some actual offensive push. I think we got real lucky with that pick, but time will tell. Zegras is no slouch for sure.

If we still had the LOG line,
Skinner would have to be playing with Cozens at least (or higher up)

Careful what u wish for
Just sayin.....

Forgive me my morning rant.
I know that it's only one game but the more things change, the more that they remain the same.

*Sabres rant*

You know, I just had a conversation with my wife about the Sabres game last night.

I have real reservations about this Ralph guy as our head coach.

First of all, Hutton last night and not Ullmark?
Really Ralph?
That's all I need to say about that.

Now let's talk about 9 million dollars on the 4th line in Skinner?
Wtf is this guy doing?

I was talking with my wife and said, "these kids nowadays don't like to be challenged"!
My reference was to Skinner.
It's then that I realized what I said is true!
I'm an authority on children - I've raised 6.

The kid scored 40 goals on a line with Eichel.
That's why he got paid 9 million per year.
Ralph apparently has a problem with Skinner's defensive zone play?
So he punishes Skinner and puts him on the 4th line with 2 block heads.
He thinks "that'll teach Skinner a lesson".
WRONG!
That does NOT work with this lazy generation.
You will have the exact opposite effect on Skinner with that approach.
These kids nowadays do not like to be challenged.
They like the easy way.
Facts are facts.
Technology has made this younger generation LAZY.
They can't shine our shoes.
As a 53 year old concrete man of 38 years with CHF?
I still could and would work any of these kids into the ground.

So what happens with Skinner?
He sulks and plays fewer and fewer minutes every game and we watch and waste 9 million dollars on the 4th line.

Something is going to give here.
And I think it's soon.

The Hawks are in for a very long season.
Pat Kane needs to come back home.

Skinner/Mittlestadt and a 1st for Pat Kane.
If the Buffalo Sabres/the Pegulas are truly interested in winning?
That's the move you make NOW!

Get er done and don't wait too long.
You can't get too far behind in this shortened 56 game NHL season.

If you're not going to take a 9 million dollar player seriously Ralph, and waste him on the 4th line?
You or him need to go.
I'd hate to be in that locker room.

Rant off.

We played bad & still scored 4goals against a good team
And that’s with Jack & Dahlin not having great games

This team can get better
Will they?
We’ll see

Hutton got the start bc supposedly he’s looked really good in camp
I still don’t like him, but it’s reasonable reasoning

Skinned played more than most are giving credit for
He had the 7th most icetime for forwards,
so he didn’t play “4th line” minutes
And the lines aren’t gonna stay the exact same all year

And the Hawks can trade Pk88 without having to take a contract back like Skinner’s
Pretty sure we are stuck with him
Hopefully Ralph will at least put him & Cozens together
A 3rd scoring line should be fun to watch at least

From the sounds of it, it's a good thing devil's didn't trade for Hutton after Crawford retired

I am sure Wedgewood won't do too well but from sounds of it here, Hutton is brutal

Devil's have little offense

Last night wood crashed into the goalie twice and scored on a breakaway only to crash right into the net after (wasn't touched)

Ty Smith scored in his first game after the puck played pinball between Boston dmen

Devil's need offense sabres need a goalie but blackwood is not being moved, saved 35 of 37

Problem with Hutton is that he’s so inconsistent
He’ll save 41 of 43 shots against them Pens one night,
but then allow 3 goals in the 1st period the next night

He’s very frustrating to watch & cheer for

If Ralph and Skinner can't figure out how to co-exist, one of them need to go for the betterment of this team and franchise moving forward.
If this problem, and make no mistake, I firmly believe that it's a problem even inside that locker room already.
There's "chirping" amongst the "fellas" I believe.
I mean, am I overstating this?
Perhaps.🤷🏻‍♂️

But if it doesn't resolve itself sooner rather than later, this Buffalo Sabres team will be in the same position or worse than the Blackhawks and we can then, kiss a trade for Kane goodbye.

But hey, that's just my opinion.
I'm no hockey savant or anything near that.

But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Where are u hearing about this supposed chirping?

Also, we’ve got 7 “good” forwards
That leaves 1 guy outta the top6- 2 guys out if Tage stays on line1
If Skinner & Cozens can at least play together on line3, that could work out well imo

we added hall and looked worse then 12 months ago
- homiedclown

We added quite a few new faces into the lineup.
Staal
Hall
Cozens
Rieder
Tage
Sheehan
New defenseman

Probably at least 6 of the 12 forwards from last season.
No preseason

I'm a homer , but they need some time to conform.
I think that's reasonable.

Caps had all the same stars / continuity

Or hard-nosed defensemen who have a clue in how to protect their net, give their goalie lanes of vision, and tie-up forwards in the slot. Hockey 101.
Sabres D needs a bit of that.
