Ristolainen has always had the hockey IQ of a ham sandwich. It's why he consistently makes mind numbingly bad decisions on the ice, like constant passes to nowhere and bad reads on plays.

Couple of things that I saw:

Tage trying to do too much, shouldn't be on a line with Hall and Eichel if that's how he is going to play

Eichel didn't look interested much of the game, and the Carlson goal was his fault for not getting it deep and turning it over (it happens)

Olofsson was invisible except for the PP and when the Sabres had the extra attacker and a wide open net with a player down in front of him.

Lazar is not a NHLer he is simply not

Reider looked better than I thought he would he looked like one of the faster Sabres which is not a good thing

Dahlin is still hesitant and that is not a good thing but him and McCabe were the only Sabres defensemen to not finish with a minus

Cozens looked pretty solid for his NHL debut you can tell he was playing meaningful competitive hockey and the rest of the team was not in the last 10 months

Skinner looks lost, he is trying to play more defensive hockey and you can tell, it wasn't until the 3rd period that he started playing more of his style of hockey and he had 2 or 3 good scoring chances and went coast to coast on one of those

I won't touch on Risto or Montour because they were awful but that's nothing new

Same with Hutton, he needs to make a stop or two to help his team out

The 3rd period was better and they started to play with a sense of urgency but with Ralph saying he wasn't going to coach as Ray mentioned it several times last night that is a huge problem. You have 6 new guys in the lineup you HAVE to coach. The only coaching I saw on the bench was Hall talking to Thompson.

Goaltending and coaching is this teams down fall. There is enough talent at least up front that this team should have won last night if they are put in the best position to succeed.

4-2 Washington tonight with an empty netter. Ullmark plays and is better but it's not enough

Hutton was bad, the defense wasn't much better, gave up the zone way to easy. Maybe Ralph thought it was 2019-20 and Hutton would start of hot again. Hopefully Ullmark takes that next step, or we are in trouble. Damn Snickers Ice Cream bar eating fat Ass Mitts, should have had that goalie upgrade.

Good stuff Stripes, Tage needs to stop puck handling and get the puck to Hall or Eichel and go to the net.

plays like jane

drop him down

put olofsson with hall and eichel

put skinner and skunk with someone

Let’s see how many games it takes to make the necessary adjustments. They should be made today. If he waits 4-6 games, we are farked. Season is too short to recover from a 2-4 start

what I saw.

Great Jerseys!! Same shatty Goalie... Tage should not be on our top line and Skinner should not be buried on the 4th line.

The frustrating thing this year will be we will lose 5-4, soring I don't think will be a problem.

GET A GOALIE.

Sloppy game last night, I pretty much expected it after 10 months. Defense needs to hold the line more, were backing off and giving up the zone to easy. A lot of hesitation, can see they still need to mesh, definitely potential there, Cozens didn't look out of place. If Staal is out I would put Cozens at Center and put Skinner and Rhino at wing. See what Ullmark brings to the table, see what adjustments Krueger makes.
- Buff36

This is how I felt about the game .... except Hutton still sucks. Rust or not. He’s awful.

Based on the 2nd scrimmage you could see this coming again

Watching the game with my son, who plays travel hockey, as we see Ovechkin come down the middle, Risto leaves Backstrom on the backdoor to try and do something to Ovi, easy pass to the back door for a goal. He says to me, "why the hell did he do that"? I don't know, son. I don't know. You never leave the back post guy for a guy in front that the goalie is already playing one-on-one. That's D 101. Risto hasn't taken D 101 yet.

Total poop show again last night... this coach need his (frank)ing head examined Tage on the top line???? starting Hutton... although it probably will make no difference.

other than the hit Stahl looked really slow.

Players loved Rex Ryan and he was total dog poop.

Think we all know that Ralphys out of his league but some dont want to admit it. The coaching carousel has to stop but not with this guy.

Tage on the first line, skinner on the 4th and hutton in goal for the first game of the season after 10 months!! Synergy. That sh*it does not get a pass.

Alot of good coaches out there right now but im sure Pegula is paying for a helicopter pad upgrade on the Yacht

Whatever makes ya feel better dude
We are 1 game into the season

Skinner got the 7th most icetime,
so he didn’t play “4th line” minutes

Hutton was apparently great in camp,
so he got the nod even though he blows

If u hate the Pegulas & Ralph so much,
there are other teams out there

Have to think the Staal injury had something to do with that. Especially considering Staal still finished with more ice time.

Get the split tonight and we’re in business.

If we lose tonight too then we’re definitely behind the 8 ball.
