BUFFALO, N.Y. – NHL players knew they’d be taking a risk having a season in the COVID-19 era. But they didn’t want to take unnecessary risks.

The Sabres believe they were forced to, and they’re furious.

The NHL has postponed Tuesday’s game between the Sabres and Islanders in New York, saying more time is needed for Buffalo’s required COVID-19 contact tracing and testing protocols.

But the issue dates to the weekend. The Sabres hosted New Jersey on Saturday and Sunday despite the Devils showing significant signs of a coronavirus outbreak.

New Jersey’s Travis Zajac was added to COVID-19 protocol list Friday and did not travel to Buffalo. Kyle Palmieri played Saturday and was added to the list Sunday.

The Sabres, according to multiple sources, requested more information from the NHL and the Devils about the health of their opponent. Their request was denied.

The Sabres were wary about playing Sunday, having already faced one Devils player who went into the league’s COVID-19 protocol, but the NHL continued with the scheduled game.

On Monday, New Jersey’s Andreas Johnsson, Janne Kuokkanen, Michael McLeod and Pavel Zacha were added to the COVID-19 protocols after playing in both contests. The Sabres’ concerns were proved correct.

“Buffalo is furious with the league and with New Jersey,” a source said.

The Sabres are awaiting their test results. The Devils have been shut down through at least Saturday.

The Sabres canceled Monday’s flight to Long Island because of Winter Storm Orlena on the East Coast, but they then got word they wouldn’t be leaving Tuesday, either, because of contract tracing and testing.

It’s not clear when Tuesday’s game will be made up or if Thursday’s meeting between the Sabres and Islanders will go on as scheduled. Buffalo is supposed to fly from New York to Boston for games against the Bruins on Saturday and Monday.

The Sabres are in wait-and-see mode, and they’re not happy about why.

Interesting, Berglund got terminated for calling in Sick, this guy's got into 2 fights with teammates.
- Buff36

Berglund also accepted his termination. He wanted out. I can't imagine DeAngelo did.

Essentially, the Rangers are trying to get rid of him because he's a loose cannon. Understandable, but I can see where the Union would have a beef too.

From what Friedman said "DeAngelo said a sarcastic comment and the Rangers goalie started the altercation"

How so? By saying something that pissed a teammate off? If so, I'm sure we can find an excuse for a time Okposo rubbed a teammate the wrong way.

He's was waived because he's an bumhole. It might be best for your team, but if someone finds a way to call it breach of contract, it sets a scary precedent.

True, but it's not the first altercation he has been involved with. poop I really could care less. Wish they could terminate Okposo contract for not being able to play hockey anymore.

I guess they tried trading him last summer, too. What a waste of talent.

And yet they gave him a two-year deal in October...

I had that issue a few years ago.

i ended up messing around with the actual modems settings and fixed it.

Obviously I haven’t a clue on what I did to fix it.

Just out of curiosity, is it a wired connection or WiFi?

I think he either retires or gets moved post July 1st.

He’s only owed $6 mil after 7/1/21

If possible, try to hook it hard wired.

Unfortunately when I bought the house Verizon had already put everything in the cellar, it was weird cause the router is down there too.

Well, Mete is a LhD, so he plays behind Dahlin and McCabe
Risto, Joker and Borgen are your RhD
It leaves the D thinner for sure...would need to backfill in the offseason...vet that longterm partner for Dahlin then.

So we should be able to terminate the last 20 years of Sabres teams ?
