I still can’t believe in Cozens’ first NHL game he gets his first point assisting a Reider even strength goal and carried both Reider and Eakin to a positive shot share when both are analytical eye sores.

It’s only one game but I can’t understate how great that was lol

True
And with this offense, one would think he could wait a year or 2 for a better opportunity if he wants

Catch- 22

Bills regress and he’s not even considered

Jobs available aren’t enticing and he thinks it’s a short window

If he’s offered to coach Herbert idk how he turns it down

It wasn’t a great game,
but there are still some good things to look forward too

Question is if we can fix the bad before it’s too late

That’s fair too
But I’m sure he’s not thinking the Bills offense will regress (even though that is possible)

I was referring to that lines performance.

Not the team itself.

Well it’s just 1 game, but a good start for him
Playing him & Skinner together makes too much sense for Ralph to keep them separated in the bottom6 for too long
*i hope

It would be tough not to at least a little bit.

All depends. A lot of these guys take the opportunity when it presents itself because it might be the only one

The good news besides cozens

It was our first game in literally 10 months and everyone sucked.

From Eichel to dahlin to literally everyone.

It can only get better.

Krueger is playing 4D chess again himself in the 8th dimension. I will never understand that decision

I think it's the " start the veteran " move

Bill billicheat would have started ullmark.

Laine is probably better now considering Skinner has been rendered useless
- sbroads24

At what point does skimmer take some blame?

Ror is 10x the player. Never his coach's fault.

Laine punched tkachuk in the face tonight as well.
All around nhl player with size, toughness and scoring touch.

He's a star, not a pp specialist

Skimmer - figure skating pouter , coach killer , self absorbed. But its Krueger's fault. He sucked the pegulas in for $72 million. Imagine him when he's past his prime, and his "back hurts" like ror . 😉

Just watched it on the dvr.

Sloppy game, from BOTH teams. But isn't that to be expected? Short training camp with zero preseason games will do that.

We scored 4 times. We shouldn't lose a game where we score 4 times. But, alas, Hutton blows.

Hopefully Staal isn't out too long.

I have no idea. I don’t wanna argue it anymore

The goalie sucks last year, he starts tonight

Ristolainen was bad (again) last year he plays 22 min

Staal makes a brutal turnover for a goal he’s out for his next shift

Idk what Skinner did or did not do to get stapled to line 4.

It is what it is. He’s gonna probably stay there

Yeah I’m not gonna completely overreact, but I have little faith Krueger or the goalies are anywhere near good enough

The staal play is disappointing on so many levels

Killed momentum
Bad debut
Bad example

Guys are expected to lose a step , but not lose any hockey awareness.

I think the thing about risto, he may make bad plays, but it's not by lack of effort. Lack of hockey awareness for sure. Sad that trying hard is the barometer.

More nonsensical nicknames?
Ugh

And what’s the point in comparing Skinner to Laine?
It’s not like we can swap them
Skinner is what he is, and we are stuck with him

And while i do think ppl b!tching about the lines is overblown,
it makes all kinds of sense for Ralph to figure out how to put Skinner in a spot where he can SUCCEED- bc like i said, Skinner isn’t going anywhere
Right now, Ralph is setting him up for failure
And that just doesn’t make sense

Here’s the thing:

Ralph gave Dahlin the #1 icetime tonight & he blew it- hopefully he improves there & takes that big step we need

3 most important things needed to be a “good” team... imo:
1- goalie upgrade
2- get Skinner in a spot to succeed, at least play him with Cozens
3- Dahlin to take a step forward

And i think all of those are reasonably done
At least i hope they are

I’d rather Dahlin blow it and we come to the conclusion that maybe he’s not a franchise, Norris caliber #1 D man, this season, than play Risto as one all year for the 7th year in a row with the same results

Guys make mistakes. Staal making one is totally fine.

I just don’t get the beef with Skinner-

He’s a bonafide top 6 forward who’s just chilling on line 4

His contract his bad. His place in the lineup is worse

The problem is that NEITHER of those options gets us where we wanna be

If we have to ease Dahlin in a bit more, then that might be our best option
Risto isn’t as bad as u make it seem,
you just hate the guy so much that every mistake he makes is magnified in you mind

And if we get some better goaltending,
it’s helps mitigate the effects of some of those mistakes

I know we agree that some good goaltending will help this team a lot
