It’s not just about points

Staal’s line isn’t good, period.

If all anyone is concerned about is points, Marcus Johansson produced at a .5 PPG clip last year. So did we upgrade?

- sbroads24

Staal got off to a slow start for sure,
but he’s been better the last few games

I don’t understand the point of u guys making player evaluations after such a short time frame of games

If Eichel & Hall can start off slow,
then anyone on our team can

No question something is going on, but he's still shooting like he always has.

I believe he technically quit a while back,
but had agreed to blog here n there for a while while they looked for someone to replace him

Damn that's a shame, I liked what he put together.

Hockey writers already talking Hall at deadline. It makes sense.
What if we wipe the skate clean?
Staal at the deadline, Miller too. Buy out Skinner this summer, move Eichel and package Okposo with him. Hire a real GM and coach. I’m sure the Pegulas are about to get involved with the Bills out.

Uggh. Then I become a Kraken fan. If I’m starting over, I’m starting over.

But I don’t want that. We still have a good core in Buff to build around even if they miss the playoffs this year in this insanely talented division.

IMO

Sabres are 1 point out of a playoff spot,
behind a Penguins team who’s having trouble with secondary scoring - AND - bad defense & awful goaltending

We do have our own flaws, but we’ve also played all but 2games pretty well so far

So let’s just see what happens
Maybe we’ve got a shot at this thing after all ?

Right, and there's more the grisly old vet brings to the table than that which is measured by Advanced Stats. If Advanced Stats is all anyone is concerned with, you can't measure the intangibles he brings advanced, nor with them counting stats either. You can place a value on it though, and it is very, very high.

8 games in and Hall has been on his line how long?, 3, 4 periods?
Give it time.

Your hatred of the Sabres acquiring him and ranting on every opportunity is getting old, real old.

It sucks with a shortened season and hardly a camp to get used to each other, it's gonna take a little time to synergy, especially with how many new faces there are. We are 8 games in, let's see where we're at game 15.

We have zero grit, Eichel looks checked out, Halls not what we thought, Staal is terrible, Eakin is terrible, Ullmark will only be able to keep this Houdini act up for so long, Dahlin is still a couple of years away, Skinners contract really sucks. Sounds like rebuild to me. I would rather watch a bunch of young guys that put everything on the line and scrap, battle to win then what I’ve seen from this team this year and most recent years

we are a playoff team with a different coach

he is holding us back and is a life long loser in the nhl

he does not deserve a promotion, he deserves a pink slip

we use to have grit in our drafts

zadorov, compher, lemieux,

the few left with grit, I am not sure if they got invites to camp

the roster is constructed so poorly that the only way casey, asplund or quinn gets a shot is if they put cozens on the taxi squad because they can't risk losing fringe nhl players like lazar and sheahan to waivers

that alone is pretty f'd up

Hatred is really strong, so is ranting. I'm sorry that the facts back up that the Sabres still are without a viable second line, despite acquiring a super cool name that everyone got their panties soaked over.

Staal predictably looks very old to start this year. It is what it is.

Exactly, we saw no value in the guys who on other teams blocking shots with their faces. Zadorov might be too 10 meanest, scariest defensemen past 10 years. We have meek, soft team. Who’s example are you supposed to follow?

Agree on the different coach, not sure if we are a playoff team though. We would at least maximize on some of the overpaid guys we have

I understand everyone's frustrations, I am right there too. But I don't think changing coaches at this time will benefit anything.

he should be fired for the skinner issue alone IMO

he witnessed the hutton struggle first hand last season and kept him on the roster and played him instead of getting a different goalie

all he had to do was tell botts that it was bad and hutton needed to go on ir

those two issues alone get us the one point we needed to make the play in last fall

adams leaned on him for the offseason

so what do we do, overpay for one of our own, and then grab eakin at inflated value which we are stuck with for another season

grab sheahan at the last minute, now we can't play 2 kids in the lineup because they are worried about another team claiming freaking sheahan or lazar

this process f@cking sucks

at this point I will take coach X behind the curtain over what we have

Bring in Gallant. Send Ralph upstairs. Only because pegs’ loves them some Ralph. It’s the synergetic way!

But you are probably right. Who pointed pegs’ have never kept a coach past two years?

It’s a shame. The team has more talent than they’ve had in a while and it’s just not used or developed properly.

They should haves tossed duds the keys to the franchise but that’d be to smart...
