How so?

Teams score way less PP goals than they do EV goals.

EV goals are way more important to get consistently

It's why I have to laugh when certain people blame special teams for going 0-3 on a PP one night after they were 5-8 the previous two games.

A majority of teams PP are going to be within a few % of eachother and the difference is a small amount of goals over the entire season

- sbroads24

Like i said.... per 60
If u score 1 pp goal in 5min of pp time,
and 1 goal 5v5 in 50min of time
That 1pp goal equates to 10 pp goals in 50min
Get what I’m saying?

It’s just an example of being able to twist a stat in whichever favor u want to

But at the end of the day,
Pp goals and 5v5 goals count the same on the scoreboard
So NEITHER is more important than the other

Check The Chart which has become the holy grail for evaluation of Goalies after 6 whole games
That shows Blackwood, Wedgewood and MAF as reincarnations of Dom based on their GSAA/60 higher than xGSAA/60

One would say it doesn't matter which Goalie starts against the Sabres this weekend

- IonSabres

I’m not a fan of stats/60 in general
Those kind of stats make Lazar & Rieder look like studs compared to Eichel & Hall,
and we all know that’s not true
Same reason i don’t like using sample sizes as small as 6games

Blackwood has shown to be a decent goalie
Wedgewood has been an AHL goalie for a reason
He’s their backup for a reason, and I’d much rather face him

GO SABRES!

Guess Beane and Allen had a meeting. Looks like we have a QB that is willing to leave some money on the table to help with building the team, he isn't just giving lip service about loving it here.

So instead for 40 mill a year .... he will take 35. Home town discount

Really?

12 goals in the second half of his 1st season
14 goals last year, shortened season
0 goals in 8 games this year

28 in the first 41 as a sabre though....
First 1/2 season

- Boss34

Skinner got hurt in the 2nd half of his 1st season with us- and has been playing with scrubs since

He’s a good player, who’s not being used in a position where he can be most effective.
The end.

So, Staal has 4 pts through 8 games, 2 pts on PP and 2 pts at 5v5
Which is 0.50 PPG, vs last 2 years average of 0.67 PPG

If he produced this season at his average the last 2 years of 0.67, he would have 5.6 pts with
-70% at 5v5, equals 3.92 pts 5v5...this year he has 2 pts 5v5
-30% on PP, or 1.70 pts 5v5...this year he has 2pts on PP

While playing on PP2 this season, he is out producing his 2 year average on PP1....pretty, pretty good!

Now, if he could pick up 1.5 extra pts at 5v5, he would be burning down the house!

Hey Ralphie-boy...how about helping a grisly old vet by giving him another asset who can help...Hall...or Skinner?

It’s not just about points

Staal’s line isn’t good, period.

If all anyone is concerned about is points, Marcus Johansson produced at a .5 PPG clip last year. So did we upgrade?

I agree, form an opinion based on the first 35% of a players career with his new team.

Make excuses after not playing with a top 3 nhl passer.

Good isn't cutting it. Skimmer's being paid to be better than good.

He has 1 more point this season than you.

"Whether I'm playing with Jack or Eric, that was my thought coming into this year," Hall said. "There are two really good centermen to play with here and that can create matchup problems for other team. … No matter where I'm playing I'm excited."

I'm a complete homer, but I like the team too.

Mainly ullmark giving the Sabres a chance to win every night .

Jack probably playing hurt
Sam possibly too
Hall/ staal eventually will adjust to a new team
Skinner snake bitten
Dahlin looking better, due to produce
Cozens looking consistent
McCabe and risto playing good d under Ralph

They look lackadaisical at times .... not sure why

It’s a few weeks into a season that had no preseason. Every team is playing sloppy hockey. Although I’d love to say that the team that squirrels away enough points in this first month is in the drivers seat, there are injuries in a short season and other factors making this season truly unique. Let’s look at this week. We beat the Rangers on Tuesday by playing 2 good periods and laying down in the 3rd. Rangers built momentum in the 3rd but in a non COVID season that momentum and solid play on Thursday would’ve been directed at another team. Back to backs are tough. This is a unique season. Throw all the previous stats away and enjoy the ride.

I'm not a stat guy but I just think he's passing in spots where he would've shot last year. Could be partially due to injury plus having more talent around to pass to? Who knows. Something ain't quite right with him is all I'm saying.
- Chris16

No question something is going on, but he's still shooting like he always has.

9 at EV last year

His 5 on 5 goals/60 was 13th on the team last year.

Behind prolific goal scorers Curtis Lazar and Evan Rodrigues

- sbroads24

Olofsson had 8 even strength goals last year, and 6 at 5v5.
