Last year the idea was that we couldn't have one good line with Skinner, Jack and Reinhart because had to have two good lines, this year we can't have two good lines because we have to have 3. Ralph has a tendency to spread things too thin. He's constantly trying to ignite one more line than possible and it ends up smothering all of them. I would love to see a lineup with the best players in the best places but we're not allowed to have nice things

It just honestly floors me that the guy who’s had the most success BY FAR with Eichel isn’t allowed to play with him.

Hall should be able to feast on some 2nd pairing matchups with Staal and Cozens

Cozens is legit good already. Play him

rieder, eakin, sheahan, lazar and okposo should be rotated for the 4th line playing 10 minutes a night 5 on 5

it seems they would rather play the scrubs on a regular basis then lose lazar or sheahan on a taxi squad move

Why move skunk away from Eichs? They have the most success together they're besties

I think there's an element of stubbornness now where if Ralph finally broke and played Skinner somewhere else and it worked, he'd have to answer questions about why it took this long to do. With the team struggling 5-on-5 I can't come up with a better reason than stubbornness

I don't personally view overall points as the end all be all.

Between the two of them they have 1 EV goal and 4 total EV points.

They aren't relegated to Lazar and Sheahan either.

Hall was brutal the last few games and Staal's line is in no way shape or form an NHL caliber 2nd line

- sbroads24

Not viewing "overall points" as the end all, could be why you have unusual opinions on players?

Good players flat out suck ect

Oloffson is a great example.

He may have 50 points in 56 games this season.
Which is outstanding for a 2nd year nhl guy.

Scoring wins games. Stopping the other team wins games. It's kinda like stopping the run in football.....

Who cares if it's on the pp. It counts 🤔

the brief time they had cozens play center this year, looked better then eakin and staal IMO

Krueger is in love with Olofsson who ...checks stats... Has 0 EV goals after not being able to score at EV last year

I get it for the PP, he's absolutely great there.

But he's a 3rd liner. Yet he get's bumped up every single time instead of Cozens or Skinner

- sbroads24

Oloffson is good . Not sure why you can't see this?

8 games
25 shots
Points in 6 of 8

How much better can the 2nd year guy play?

Oh

Skimmer 1 point and 9 million.
%💯0 skinner sure that olofsson is better than skimmer

Not even including there salaries. Twice as much for skimmer

I have not seen him there but I wouldn't doubt it. If he can play centre let him. League is always getting younger. My thinking is our rw selection sucks so bad so keeping him there makes that postion easier to fill and he played great with Staal so far. Put hall on that line for more than a couple shifts see if they can click.

Because they aren’t the same in terms of value

All teams score PP goals. Unless you are a top 3-5 PP (we’re not) or a bottom 3-5 PP (we’re not) everyone in between is around a few % points of each other by years end and the difference is negligible

Last season for example The Lightning had the 6th most PP goals at 49. The Sabres had the 22nd most at 37

That’s a top 10 and bottom 10 PP within 12 goals of each other over 70 games

At 5 on 5

Minnesota was tied for 5th with 156 goals

The Sabres were 21st with 130

That’s more than double the difference within the same grouping of teams

It’s a lot more important to score when everything is even

even strength this season he has 1 goal, when our goalie was pulled

and an even strength assist on staal's goal

so in essence he has as many even strength points playing in the top 6 as skinner has playing the 4th line with 2 fringe nhl players 10 minutes a night

Do you watch the games? Seriously?

Oloffson is a really good player.
On your favorite team

There are so many other problems than a 7th round pick, being 2nd in scoring on a team that needs scoring.

Skinner sucks
Point blank
Worst contract in all of hockey and probably all of sport

But olofsson as a rookie only scored 9 even strength goals.

You look to be miserable.

But skinner is better than laine. Dahlin better than makar and hughes.

Skimmer and dahlin have a total of 2 points in 16 man games.

Were they 5 x 5 ? That's all that matters 😀

Yup. It's not even the points. He doesn't get shots on.

He's a bottom 6 PP specialist. But Krueger will wonder why his line never scores

Skinner has been awesome other than he can't produce. He's been driving that line himself and doing a pretty decent job. He's been flying around the ice creating chances just can't bury.. maybe don't waste 9 million on the 4th line.. while you have 800k 7th round pick in the top six.

I'm hoping after we move onto the next coach that they realize this. There's nothing wrong with having a bottom6 guy who can do well on the PP, it's forcing them into a top6 role that's unproductive.

Meanwhile Cozens plays with Reider and EEkin...

Can we call him EEKin?

Sounds like Reinhart is banged up. Didn't practice today. Seems like he got hurt when he was being not tough in front of the net while scoring a goal. I look forward to tall Tage taking his place there and Skinner staying on L4

Skinner will break through. His goals below expected is crazy right now, they'll start to go eventually if he can keep up the pace.

Didn't we all say this last year?

"Eventually" the schedule runs out.
