last night was so frustrating

not sure if it's the system or the players

guys like hall, eakin, and staal are just standing there not moving their legs

it's like they are a half step behind due to the lack of movement

- homiedclown

Noticed it as well.
Let's see what this weekend brings...
I predicted 2-7-1 for 1st 10 games...at 3-3-2 they are a bit better than what I projected, which includes holding on for dear life the last 4 periods to get 1 win and 1 loser point against a team struggling as well.

It is now time to gel, 8 games is enough to time to get the cobwebs out and shake off the rust.

I hate the stupid 1-1-2 PK they're using. It leaves the D on the points with too much time to make plays because our high guy goes from point to point. The Rangers were not successful last night but better teams will make us pay. Why can't we play a box like every other freaken hockey team ever?
- Chris16

the better shooting teams in the league will make us pay for it, like the caps did

Tomb Rieder played more than Skinner, Olofsson, Staal and Cozens.

The coach kinda sucks

Taylor Hall and Staal have been incredibly underwhelming so far.

Just amazing how no matter what big names they acquire they never seem to exceed expectations

Staal has really taken a beating almost every game, from crosschecks to punched in the head last night. I hate to say it but we might need a face puncher, been a lot of poopty hits already on Sabres players with nobody answering back. Hate to say it but players do notice that, and can affect there games.

7 points in 8 games and 4 points in 8 games is incredibly underwhelming? Staal had a 3 game point streak going into last night. Give it some time

borgen showed glimpses of this in rochester

Yes as long as whoever can bring more to the team like Cernak, it has gotten a little out of hand.

I really think Eichs is hurt. Whatever kept him out of the first few days of camp is not healed. His puck control has been sloppy, he hasn't shot the puck as much as he usually does, and it looks to effect him on the dot as well. I'm guessing it's not his core or back because his skating & agility seem normal. Maybe wrist, forearm or elbow? They're obviously keeping it quiet but it will come out eventually.

The guy is a competitor. And he's now surrounded by the most talent since he became a Sabre. There's no way he's checked out. He's hurt and trying to play through it.

IMO

Still averaging more shot attempts than last year, 6 to 5.8.

I think hall is struggling to find his role.

For example. With Eichel. Him and Eichel play too much patty cake with the puck. Just shoot the darn thing

I think hall with Staal and cozens looked more comfortable.

I'm not a stat guy but I just think he's passing in spots where he would've shot last year. Could be partially due to injury plus having more talent around to pass to? Who knows. Something ain't quite right with him is all I'm saying.

Okay, there is no such thing as a 1-1-2 penalty kill in your own zone. The Sabres are trying to do what every other team does and that's rotate the two high guys as the D move to the middle of the ice to set up the umbrella. Maybe they looked slow on their rotation and that's what was being referred to.

First stinker since game one and Ullmark got us a point. This NJ series is yet another big one. I hated the schedule when I first saw it but these back-to-back "mini series" definitely bring a heightened sense of urgency. I just hope the players feel it as much as us fans.

If this team had a real coach they'd be in a playoff spot, guaranteed.

Ralph is not good.

Somewhat related

My prediction is the 3 games in 4 nights all against the Devils from April 6-9 will make or break the season
