The game plan against Buffalo? Pressure them. They are absolutely atrocious at moving the puck with any speed or urgency. Even when they're winning.

I saw a bit of this in the last game against the Rangers but moreso tonight. They just never seemed to have their feet under them. 5 of the first 6 games were better than the last two. They need more urgency and tenacity.

They all owe Ullmark a steak dinner to-go from the chop house. That's a big point he stole. Theyre still alive at 3-3-2

This team is pretty annoying.

Can we ever have a game where we both dictate play and get good goaltending ?

Why does it have to be one or the other.

Some concerning trends have started to emerge the past two-t0-three games. Risto and McCabe are starting to look back to their normal selves, Montour stunk tonight as well.

Kreuger is insistent on playing the Eakin line as a shutdown line but they have been terribe the last 3 games and are not "shutdown" type players. If Ralph had any stones Okposo wouldn't play again this year as its clear he's 3 steps behind the play.

Eichel and Hall have to figure out whatever is making them ovulate.

Play Cozens more, he's been one of the best forwards this year despite limited minutes.

Ralph has been shortening the bench in the third.

Cozens only played 10 minutes the other night as well.

I don’t think he’s hurt I think they are sheltering him.

However it is possible I guess I wasn’t really paying attention to see if he was on the bench or not

Cozens had a few hard collisions with grown men tonight. Hope he's ok.

Irony : maybe they bench cozens hoping he doesn't make a key mistake costing them the game.

Not sure how I feel about eichel's games tonight?

That was an incredible pass by Sam. 👍

Skinner can't take that penalty at a key time.
Especially with 1 point in 8 games

Maybe Ralph can’t fight this feeling anymore so it was time for me to fly?

This was definitely a game they should have been able to win. Any team with an identity should have been able to crank it up and get the W. Even if that meant in overtime.

They clung on for dear life the entire third in the last game and carried that play over to tonight. They have the ability to play down to any situation for some reason. This is really just an a$$ roster littered with mistakes. I feel like there is a future the involves Cozens being the man and a supporting cast around him that looks NOTHING like todays Sabres. And I think that's a future wer're going to enjoy. If we have a GM with the balls and skills to pull it off.

I really think Eichs is hurt. Whatever kept him out of the first few days of camp is not healed. His puck control has been sloppy, he hasn't shot the puck as much as he usually does, and it looks to effect him on the dot as well. I'm guessing it's not his core or back because his skating & agility seem normal. Maybe wrist, forearm or elbow? They're obviously keeping it quiet but it will come out eventually.

The guy is a competitor. And he's now surrounded by the most talent since he became a Sabre. There's no way he's checked out. He's hurt and trying to play through it.

IMO

last night was so frustrating

not sure if it's the system or the players

guys like hall, eakin, and staal are just standing there not moving their legs

it's like they are a half step behind due to the lack of movement

Interesting...
How the Capitals with a so many good players still out, continue to find ways to win and post points

How the Bruins who have lost a lot of talent upfront and on D continue to find ways to win

The Sens are tracking just fine to land the highest odds for Owen Power, a nice add to their burgeoring stockpile of good young talent...
Chabot, Tkachuk, Norris, Pinto, Stutzle, Sanderson, Brannstrom, Chlapik, Thomson
Give them a couple years...holy crap.

I hate the stupid 1-1-2 PK they're using. It leaves the D on the points with too much time to make plays because our high guy goes from point to point. The Rangers were not successful last night but better teams will make us pay. Why can't we play a box like every other freaken hockey team ever?
