Skinner for Duchene was the basis. Similar contracts.
- jcragcrumple

Sabres save money (less cap, money owed, and years).
Duchene doesn’t have a NMC/NTC until 23/24, whereas Skinner has a full NMC.
You aren’t going to lose any speed as they’re both burners
Duchene can play C/LW

Think Expansion draft, one less player to have to protect..........

I think there are negative repercussions to LTIR that may not be the best except as a last resort.
-can't accumulate cap space daily (obviously)
-Bonuses roll over
Not sure how the existing Bonus Rollover is affected, or not.

Obviously, if they can trade money out, that is preferrable

- IonSabres

That’s true about the bonus rollover affecting our cap next year instead of this year
But using LTIR can be a factor for us this year IF we want to use it

Well why worry about next year, we only have like 7 players signed. They look to have a team that could do some damage when everything gets rolling,

I Watched alot of the Nashville game last night.
Dushane was pretty active, the announcers were all over him , breaking his goal less season.

I would think he's underperforming and would be a good time to inquire?

Were you giving staal straight up? Adding the giraffe?

- Boss34

He’s underperformed basically his whole career

Duchene is owed $41 mil over the rest of his deal(I took out his bonus this year as it’s already been paid)

Skinner is owed $54.5 mil over the rest of his deal(same parameters as above)

I feel (as you said) Ralph will use Duchene properly compared to Skinner.

You can leave Duchene exposed in the expansion draft whereas Skinner has to be protected.

It’s a win/win, at least that’s how I see it.

MAF is definitely an upgrade. Haven't the Sabres goalies (ullmark) gotten them 5 out if the last 6 points?

I'm not sure about very cheap. My guess, with the shortened season, he has more value being an old guy?
Fresher for the playoffs.. he's been alternating with lehner and flat out , outplaying him....

MAF and Reeves

For

Glutton, mitts and Miller

👊🤝

Were both happy 🙂
.

- Boss34

That is doable,
but puts us right up against the Cap
So it would be tough to bring in a LD, and Irwin would be playing nightly

Those are all fair points, and i agree with ya

And off Duchene doesn’t work out here-
then hopefully Seattle would take him
Tough contract though, just we might have to give them a sweetener

Duchene isn’t really working out there,
& they could use a goal scorer

Really just comes down to if they like Skinner or not

And they have the cap room to take on the extra mill from Skinner's contract.
Craig's keep talking to yourself, good board material.

Looks like Irwin will be in the lineup again, Joker still day to day.
- Buff36

Irwin is a good short term answer for a few games. Not mad at his play at all for 1 game

It’s worth considering if Kruger is gonna continue to keep Skinner in his current role

I’m not a fan of Duchene as a player though

not the first thing? hasn't he already signed some 40 executive orders already?
- TheHank

Absolutely, spiteful executive orders.

His turn to do what he wants 🛎

I think Duchene is more sellable to Seattle bc he’s a Center

For those including myself who think skinner is being miss used.

Before last game ... he had the most scoring chances on the team so far this year. Eichel was right behind him

Exactly - the guy's analytics say that he is actually having a good season. The eye test says the same thing. If he is driving that line why are we in a hurry to move him up? The goals will come, just as they will for Jack.

I’m confused why St Louis fans keep saying he’s not good defensively. Still, he gets about as big of advantage in zone starts I’ve ever seen, and this year has been terrible to the point of a benching. I still wouldn’t give up Buf first for him, but I also may be gun shy from ever trading that with where we’ve been for 10+ years
