And if you really wanna know, Sam’s rel corsi is +12. Even factoring for the Eichel bump that’s still insanely solid.

I would have more than 2 goals this season playing with eichel and hall.

Pp1 time.

You really think he's playing good?

I didn’t say that, you asked I answered. Like the VO question, you asked I answered. How about this..

I want more from Sam, Jack, Taylor, Rasmus D., Victor. Not that everyone else is perfect, but these guys aren’t stepping up. In the future, if you ask a question about VO, and then flip it to Sam just because there won’t be a discussion. You asked what all the VO haters thought so far, and he still is what he is. A freakin cannon of a shot that is still not great or even good 5v5. Possibly better, although the numbers suggest otherwise. Like I said, I like him, just want more and to not over pay for the golfer on the half wall ✌️

Maybe m tv isnt big enough? 😉

The sky's the limit for olloffson.
I wouldnt label him a pp specialist just yet....

Broads painted laine with the same brush...

- Boss34

You don't have to take my word for it- Here's another blogger on Laine and the PLD trade-

I think both teams did fairly well considering the hands they were dealt. I’m not sure there is a loser here. I will say I think the Winnipeg Jets are the winners, though.

I know Patrik Laine is one of the best goal scorers in the league. I know players with that ability come few and far between. But, realistically speaking, he doesn’t bring much to the table outside of that. He doesn’t drive play. He is not good defensively. He isn’t an ace penalty drawer. He isn’t even that productive at 5v5. That’s all fine – he is still a very good player – but it really eats into his value.

Evolving-Hockey.com has him worth 10.3 Goals Above Replacement over the last two seasons. 7.9 of that came from his power play offense; his even-strength value is quite modest.

Pierre-Luc Dubois is a much different story. He doesn’t bring a ton to the power play, but he does everything else extremely well. He is very efficient at 5v5. He does drive play. He’s a much better defensive player and his penalty impacts are better. As a result of all the aspects of the game he contributes to, his total GAR (+22) is more than double over the last two years.

Laine is miles better on the PP – unsurprising, given his shot – and lags behind everywhere else

He’s Ales Kotalik lite.
- dadeadhead

Kotalik peaked at 25 goals in a full season

olofsson already has 25 goals in his first 67 nhl games

I think he has more upside and a more accurate shot then ales had

Olofsson needs to improve his skating / stride to get a little faster and man up in the corners.

The thing I have noticed on the staal olofsson and cozens line is that olofsson has definitely carried the puck then he usually does on the Eichel line. I think that’s a positive

Don't want to play the "im in the know" card because for the most part im not, but it's very real that he's going to request out by midseason if we aren't competing for a spot.
- sbroads24

No he won't.

And if he does, tell him to piss off and go home, you can hold out.

Yeah.... that won't ever happen.

If he goes public he's gone.

the NHL and the NHLPA will absolutely request the Sabres to move him. They aren't going to let one of their stars rot

I agree with this post as well.

Hey Jack, stay home and make yourself look bad.
Honor your contract. You signed it just a couple years ago.
Jack's been here now 5+ years, but signed the contract just 2 years or so ago.

And Kotalik was a better all around player though.

As much as people bagged on him for being soft, he was a solid winger and able to hold his own defensively.

I’ll stand by he’s Kotalik lite.

Not to get into a confrontation, but last night...

https://theathletic.com/2...ifts-sabres-past-rangers/

“We like where our group’s at right now,” Eichel said. “We think we’re only scratching the surface on the way we can play. I think it’s exciting times.”

And 2X in the last week.

He ain't going nowhere.
KK did enough to suppress that thought.
Next year, after retooling, they take the next step.

- IonSabres

It’s still very early in the season
U really think he’ll still be that positive if we miss the playoffs again?
I’m doubtful

Primary player Goalscoring on 5v5 for me, costs absolutely nothing.
I'd say, if they could improve that by +1.5 per game to ~2.0 from ~0.43 they would be terrific.
3 goals in 7 games (0.43/ gm) from
-Eichel
-Hall
-Sam
-Olofsson
-Staal
-Skinner

2 per game from those guys is 112, which translates to 19 goals each this season.
Challenging, but doable.

- IonSabres

I totally agree with all that

But i think we should do the goaltending too
Wouldn’t that just make us even better?

Kotalik was alot tougher for sure.

I think the adjustment to north american hockey is part of the issue with olofsson.

1 year in Rochester
1 shortened nhl season
7 games

Letting olo develop at his own pace overseas probably will hold him back in a few aspects of his game.

Physically and adjusting to a North American style is gonna take a bit, if ever ?

Toughness and battle in the corners isn’t something you develop.

You either have the balls do it or you don’t.

Where's pegulaville. I need his take on the gamestop situation. This is (frank)in great watching wall street tycoons cry foul when they get beat at their own scummy game

You can work on all aspects of your game.

I get what your saying, but guys can improve.
Fighting is either you have ballz or don't

Every team has few guys that just score.
If he's scoring that's fine. Especially without riding shotgun with eichel.

But that's just one more per game on average.....😉

Olo reminds me of audette. Although he had a bit of a mean streak at times.

Smaller, great sniper shot....
