I think your dismissing the shootout

ullmark got them the win sunday from that alone, and his play in the shootout friday justified another win we should of had but the playmakers paid big money let us down in that shootout

- homiedclown

I don't think shootout data goes towards in game data. Nor should it. Ullmark is actually quite good in the shootout, so I suppose, my opinion, yeah he can definitely steal a shootout or two. Absolutely.

Excluding the shootouts, he needs to steal games outside of the shootout sometimes. Early season data suggests there's less of a chance of that happening than otherwise.

Harrington’s write up on Krueger was a good read. Don’t really agree with him but I can respect what he is saying

ralphed leaned on the REO line last night like he leaned on the lockport line last season

I thought okposo looked decent. His speed was better than I expected. I dont expect him to score really ever but he was fine

in the last 6 games
2 goals allowed
1 goal allowed
2 goals allowed
3 goals allowed
3 goals allowed 2 on the pp
2 goals allowed

pretty sure everyone would have taken that given our roster construction

- homiedclown

The overhead results are definitely acceptable. Team starts scoring at their ability, it will heavily mask the shortcomings of the goalies.

Yes, yes we would.
However, as you know the SV% is a basic stat, which does not give consideration to the quality of the shots.

The referenced XGA graph speaks to the fact the system is being executed well on the defensive side to limit higher quality chances. The Goalies have room for improvement, those arguing for that have a point...
yet it isn't the big killer some seem to think it is. It is roughly 2/3rds of a goal per game. If the Sabres hold their opponent to GA of 2 or less...they should win.

If you watch the game in 2x it almost looks like Okposo has gained a step

It was his best game, still he just seems like he should have taken a bigger step by know, I know he's young, but guess we shall see.

Dahlin started out poorly last year as well. I'd say give him some time. Regardless of whether he deserves it is another discussion. But let's see how he rounds out here.

Beat me to it. Gotta break up Dahlin and Miller. Put Dahlin with McCabe and Risto with Miller

In plain English the Sabres are playing games systematically to win 2-1.

Which won’t work if our goalies don’t make the saves they need to.

We can’t open things up because we can’t score 5v5 right now because we truly only have one good forward line.

Our depth is out scoring it’s expected goals and I don’t expect that continue, on the contrary the Eichel line is vastly underperforming there expected goals so when both have a regression to the mean we are going to be in the same situation we are now.

That’s why I mentioned last night in a reply to Homie that I’m hoping we can hang in there until game 25-30 and Adams can make a move here to bring in another forward to help push us into the top 4

STFU

he was fine in 2 of his 3 starts
and our D blew the last 2 years

Kuemper is not coming here

- homiedclown

Then how come Ullmark was able to be “ok” with that terrible defense?

Sorry u can’t handle we have different options on it
But all the evidence backs mine

Sabres aren’t making the playoffs with Hutton
He’s not good

And u don’t “know” that about Kuemper for sure
Also, Kuemper is just my preferred choice
Any upgrade over Hutton would help
Why don’t u wanna upgrade over a sub .900 goalie?

And, we can take the biggest defensive liability defensemen off of his pairing so he stops picking up terrible habits🤔

The third sentence in my post addressed this.

.918 (.003 above league average that year)
.913 (league average that year)

Then he had .931 in his contract year before signing with the sabres. He has been below average every single other year of his career. If you take out his great contract year his career save% is .905

Below average

life is too short

when they got hall, there was no money for a goalie

hutton has been fine in 2 of 3 starts
ullmark has been fine

could they be better, yes

so could 17 of the 18 skaters

and the coach

look at the roster, what is the weakest link?
anyone can see it

now go off with more all cap posts

Really think they should drop Olofsson and put Skinner on that line with Staal and Cozens and see what happens, of course Skinner would have to use his linemates for that to work.

Would help, but it's not like he's been any better in the Dzone.
