Thanks for asking 36. Chalupa has a whopper of a cold, my wife is recovering from it, and my 2 year old taquita has mild symptoms. My wife's a nurse, got her 2 vaccine shots, got tested the other day, came back negative. But chalupa's a happy little boy, loves to laugh and smile.

Overall, our team forecheck has been excellent, as shown statistically and eye test. Risto McCabe has been preventing zone entries, which is exceptionally important because Risto as a defender is average at best. Ralph is maximizing their strengths by having them play a certain way. But last night in the third can partially be explained by game-situation, the Rangers putting all their eggs into the offensive only basket and pressing the Sabres. However, the Sabres let it happen and eased off the gas.

This season truly hinges on these goalies. And Kevyn needs to really, really focus on it. If he realizes that the goalies are the true achilles heal, he absolutely must act.

Sorry to hear that, hope they all feel better. We'll hopefully Ullmark stays level headed, he's a big factor for this year.

The idea is, here, would be that if an NHL goalie was facing easy work loads, he should be handling them well. Ullmark has been a bit below average in the effectiveness of stopping shots from his easy work load. Assuming Ralph's system holds up throughout the season (overall), Ullmark will need to move into the above average category for the Sabres to have a chance at the playoffs.

As we know, one must run and stop the run, have above average QB play, while also having effective special teams.

In as far as the Goalies go only, yes getting improved play will certainly help the team.
In a broader view, improving their 5v5 goal scoring, and more specifically from their Primary Scorers is as important. And finally, having competent special teams in a necessity...the PK needs to pick it up...the PP is beginning to click nicely. Now, become more consistent in th o se areas and Boom!

Every team goes through scoring slumps. End of day, goalies should be held in the same regard as scoring. Need them to come up big when it matters, not just be ok/average.

Also what if, just hear me out they are playing tight knowing they can’t give up high danger chances because they know the goalies won’t make a save.

in the last 6 games
2 goals allowed
1 goal allowed

3 goals allowed
3 goals allowed 2 on the pp
2 goals allowed

pretty sure everyone would have taken that given our roster construction

See how McCabe leg is, looked like he tweeked it on that boarding call.
And worried about Dahlin, he doesn't seem to be growing as a player.

Interesting thoughts there, think that could very well be true.

Is anyone else getting these pop up ads that direct them away from the website more frequently lately ?

It’s quite annoying

I don't think you hold an ullmark or a hutton to the same level as an eichel, hall or skinner

those 3 are regarded as super stars

hutton and ullmak will never be lumped as a super star

True his system doesn't really favor Dahlin's game.

It ended 2.8 for Buffalo and 2.4 for the Rangers I believe.

Ullmark definitely redeemed himself in the 3rd period to make up for the first period

- Pegullaville

Wonder how much that would “pull” Ullmark into the save better then expected category (or prolly better read moving out of the goals expected category) on that chart. Small sample sizes tend to exaggerate this when you get one more data point, obviously. Again, not being a smart ass just curious.

That would be reflected in low opportunities. They are getting opportunities, just not finishing them

Thought Dahlin had a great game last night. Was moving his feet, handling the puck with authority along the blueline, getting his shots to the net.

It was his best game, still he just seems like he should have taken a bigger step by know, I know he's young, but guess we shall see.

Its not something i've noticed particularly but something that is out there on twitter is that Risto/McCabe are having great results because they are selling out to prevent the other team from entering their zone, in a way conceding that they're (frank)ed once the other team gets in -- so might as well do everything you can to prevent it.

Would be super cool if Ralph and the coaching staff are using analytics to make gameplan changes like that.
